After a night in an horrible apartment, we found us this hotel to save us! It seems it is listed as both "Hotel Aurora" and "Stanica B&B". It is a small boutique hotel built in what was once a train station, as far back as WWII. It was developed and is owned by the brilliant film director Emir Kusturica. This is obvious by the decor and the themes of the hotel and the bar. It is brilliantly located just steps from the Adriatic Sea with views of the old port. In the mornings we heard the fishing boats starting up and prepare for the days catch. Staff was very friendly and always helpful. Though sometimes they might seem a little reserved, but we thought that was because of some language barriers. Room was clean, spacious and lovely. Breakfast was plentiful, you order from a menu with sweet and savory options. Breakfast hall was filled with memorabilia and posters from Emirs movies. Only annoying thing was that we could not eat outside, but guess that was due to some regulations. We could drink our coffees outside after breakfast. Beach 2 minutes away, and a lengthy beachpromenade running just outside. Though a few stairs to get up to the old city center, it was easily done within 5-10 minutes.

Pro: location is top notch, exterior, size of rooms. Bed was good. Old converted train station has some charm. Cons: lack of front desk support , it was often vacant. room service meant going downstairs and ordering at the restaurant to go as there wasn’t a phone in the room. Poor flooring was creaky. Rooms just a little under cleaned. Bathrooms were below average with a broken hook and a toilet room that required an open insect invitation to vent properly. Soundproofing is needed as the bar below will torment you if you plan on an sleeping before midnight. Breakfast was....weird. Room advertised a balcony that never existed. Really upsetting. I get the sense they are trying but failing. Some staff are great others need to find another line of work perhaps. The place isn’t far off from being a place to recommend but as is I’d suggest elsewhere as it’s not a good value.

Nice hotel in front of the port. Big room with nice bathroom. A bit noisy in the evening but we knew or before to book (bar open untill 1am). Very good bar with good music and a nice atmosphere. The break is really good also.

As it was already mentioned in other reviews their core business is the bar. Our room was right above the bar, and there was a speaker under our window, the room didn't have double glazed windows so clearly we couldn't rest properly. Also the bathroom can use some refurbishment... On the plus side: great location and even better breakfast

Nicely decorated rooms right at the waterfront, close to the beach, restaurants and central parking. The staff is very accommodating. It worked well with breakfast at the cafe/bar downstairs. Wifi worked perfectly in room. We enjoyed our stay at this old train station and would stay there another time if going to Herceg Novo again.

Great location, on the beach promenade and walking distance to everything. Rooms have wonderful views of the sea, there is a lovely cafe with beach views right under the bed and breakfast. Perfect for people watching and enjoying a tasty breakfast while watching the water. Rooms are charming and very clean. We had the top floor apartment which has a loft and plenty of space. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and to ensure you have everything you need. I visit herceg novi quite regularly and this is where I stay.

Firstly let me say the positive things about Aurora. The Hotel is very well decorated inside the rooms and also inside the bar and restaurant areas, it has character inside and out. It's in a great location on the sea front by the harbour, easy access to the old town and within walking distance of Igalo. It has a decent bar that has a lot of outside seating too right on the promenade. We spotted it on Tripadvisor and cancelled our earlier booking in favour of Aurora because we wanted something that had a bit of character. The room we booked was the duplex that had an upstairs area that had windows on all 4 sides built into the roof space on the top floor, the suite was exactly what we expected but the problem was it was absolutely freezing cold because contrary to the advertisement there was no heating at all. The building is stone and is much colder inside than outside even when it got to 20 degrees. We complained almost straight away only for the staff to shrug their shoulders to tell us the aircon was broken and give us 2 single quilts to put on the double bed, no attempt whatsoever to repair it! We met the owner on our last day and she was a lovely lady, we mentioned it to her as well but she also didn't seem too interested. The real problem being that it was impossible to sit comfortably in the apartment at anytime of day without wrapping up with blankets and quilts, taking a shower in the evening was a nightmare, all of which defeated the object of booking somewhere for it's ambience, we ended up trying to avoid going back to the room as much as possible. Couple of minor gripes, there was no mini-bar and the wi-fi was very patchy in the bedroom and did not work at all upstairs in the duplex lounge. Although the lack of heat was the only major fault we found and it might not be such a problem in the summer, for us it definitely affected our stay and unfortunately we would not consider returning. I feel bad for saying so but if it improves then it is worth it.

This hotel has a great location on the Pet Danica which is a promenade along the coast. I had the suite which was decorated very nicely and consisted of a bedroom and a separate sitting room which also contained a single bed. This room has a lovely view over the harbour. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is served until 12pm.
