In Podgorica for a night, the travel company booked us here; we left satisfied. Read on for details.

Located on a busy street, the entry way to the hotel lobby takes you through a cafe/dining area that was continually populated by smoking men. The lobby staff was friendly and fluent in English (and probably a bunch of other languages, too.)

The rooms are modern, comfortably sized with modern furniture. The desk was very usuable with an electric outlet well-located. There were no USB ports. The bathroom was also modern and just a little too small with the bathroom door limited by the position of the toilet.

The bed and pillow were on the firm side and, for me, comfortable. The night was quiet.

Coffee was not available until 6am. The breakfast menu was limited and is really focused on eggs and meat while offering a vegeterian omelette, which I ordered. It was WAY SALTY. Hey...I can salt my own eggs if I want. The orange and apple juice came from a nearby machine. Actually, not juice but probably an "orange drink" with a tiny percent of juice; mostly sugar water.

As the night was comfortable and quiet, I'd stay here again, but I'd make sure the kitchen didn't pre-salt my food.

We ended up here after our tour company had to move us from initial spot due to some local tensions. It is centrally located and within walking distance of the old town, shops, restaurants.

You do have to enter through a cafe bar that is consistently filled with smokers. Staff are friendly and efficient. Rooms are clean and modern with good AC, amenities etc.

Included breakfast was simple and plentiful.

Covid considerations: no masks common, you must eat inside for breakfast, lots of outdoor dining options nearby

Finally I got some time to write some comments regarding hotels around the Balkans.
I must admit that Montenegro is an amazing place, with amazing nature, people and costumes. I have been here for almost a year and and I`m absolutely in love with this country. However, some places I have visited during my business trips were not so representative while others (as this one) are wonderful. And I consider myself to be quite competent to assess hotels and restaurants since it is my job for over than 10 years.
I visited this hotel last year and it's most than likely the best quality you'll find around the city. It is newly opened hotel on a great location. The lodge is small but very functional, rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast is delicious...But what really sets this place above the others is the amazing staff (kind, modest, attentive, English speaking, welcoming, well trained. They were neat, decent and polite, unassertive......). It is very difficult to meet so high professional level in Montenegro hotels.
One more thing I found as a pleasant surprise was price-quality ratio.
I highly recommend this place!!! Hoping that nothing has changed since last year.

Excellent hotel, employees are very kind and helpful. They are also very well trained, which is a rarity in Montenegro. Very affordable, even cheap compared to other hotels in Podgorica. Everything is new, looks great, simple and practical. Will be visiting again.

Friendly and efficient staff with solid English knowledge. Suitcases was carried from the bus to the reception. Clean everywhere. Breakfast with some nice surprises as for instance pan cakes. Bar at the top floow. Room had the right size, mini bar in the room, although it did not contain much. After several days the wi-fi functioned flawlessly.

Great place to stay. Spacious brand new rooms, all the amenities, lovely lobby, English speaking personnel, relatively inexpensive, garage under the building, elevator from garage to all floors, WiFi included and very fast, breakfast included and good. Easy walking to Montengro Mall (impressive and has everything), and to Old Town (underwhelming). Slightly longer walk to center city, Hram Hristovog Vaskrsenja and Sv. Peter Cetinjski. Though there is nothing in particular in Podgoricia to see, it is a charming town with lots of people anxious to talk to an American. Wear a New York Yankees hat, carry a map and an SLR with a big lens.

High marks for the New Star Hotel, a new and modern establishment. We were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel and found it to be very good value. The location is great, only a few blocks from the city center, about a 10-15 minute walk. There are some great parks nearby for an early morning or late afternoon run/walk. A big mall complete with huge supermarket is only a block away.

The hotel is fairly small, 4 storeys with about 6 rooms on each floor. The rooms are a bit on the small side but very modern and well laid out. The TV has a great selection of satellite channels as well as internet and games and there is also free Wifi throughout the hotel. The room is well sound insulated from outside street noise and we had a very peaceful sleep. There is free parking in the basement car park and a lift that services all floors.

The gals that work at reception were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful and all spoke good English. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The free buffet breakfast was very good – fruit, cereal, cheese, meats, breads, pastries, etc. The only criticism I have for the hotel is that the reception and common areas stink of cigarette smoke as they are located next to the bar and there is no closed door. The bar/lounge was smoke-filled and disgusting.

Overall we had a great stay and I would definitely highly recommend it to other travelers. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. This is a great value hotel (roughly ~70 Euro for a double).

10 Euro taxi ride from the airport, or 10-15 minute walk from the bus station.
Probably the easiest 30 second check in i have ever had at a hotel!
All staff were friendly and welcoming.
Room was a good size, comfortable bed, good wifi. Minibar, TV with good selection of channels. The hotel pictures are accurate.
Nice bathroom with a good shower.
Breakfast was good, a nice selection of hot nd cold dishes, and good coffee. The first morning the breakfast room was under the control of a large group of Chinese tourists, staying at the hotel. But there are a lot of places to sit also outside the main breakfast room, and the staff are nice and relaxed.
Good location near the old town and clock tower.
Easy check out, and everything correct.
Very good value for money.
