Be extremely careful using Royce Tours and Travel in the lobby of the Queen's Hotel. At least fix everything you arrange with Mr. Royce in writing. In our case he changed a hotel without informing us to a cheaper one with no refund, although it seemed that he would have completed the booking of the hotel in our presence.

We were lucky to get a room which turned towards the garden. The hotel is old, and a bit teared. But it is very well situated and the restarurant serves good Sri Lankan food at a reasonable prices. The place has a colonial charm.

I was in Kandy with couple of friends few weeks back, was at queens for their famous Sunday lunch, that was indeed a terrible experience. their lunch spread is pretty small compared to other hotels in town and completely tasteless. As a hotel policy they seem to have no service at all. The staff do not bother to refill food...

We have just completed a four-day tour from Kandy to Hikkaduwa arranged by Royce Tours & Travel. The trip also included train from Nanu Oya to Ella and safari in Yala national park and everything worked perfectly. But what really made the tour into a 5 star experience was our driver Mr. Ajith who was very helpful, always on time...

This is the first time I wrote comments because I have to share the extremely bad experience with The Queens Hotel, Kandy. We had stayed one night in this Hotel. The room was extremely noisy and the shower didn't work properly; we asked to change the room but they were not able to arrange because it was fully booked. Unfortunately,...

I was kinda curious what it feels like to be in a "colonial" style hotel and Queens definitely delivers! Like one of the reviews states - yes it could use some repairs but for me thats part of the deal and the magic. The wooden floor, the furniture, the high ceilings. The best thing ever there is the open style...

My wife & I are both children of the Colonial era and wanted to stay here. It is true that it needs a bit of TLC but it is a lovely building and has so much atmosphere! What it really does need is some more hands on management. The service was very slow and one evening we went to the...

We stopped for one night as part of a driving tour of the interior. The hotel is in a great location just across the street from the lake and the Temple of the Tooth. Very welcoming and responsive staff. We had a buffet lunch and breakfast in the main restaurant and saw the interesting juxtaposition of very professional waiters and...

You walk out the lobby and across the street is the entry to the Sri Dalada Maligawa. To your right is the beautiful Kandy Lake. Few hotels can claim a location such as this. If you are a history buff you will love this somewhat forlorn gem (which is now part of Ceylon Hotel Group - Galle Face Hotel) so...

Like Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, the Queens is a beauty long past its prime. Such a good location and such lousy hotel infrastructure. Such a lovely building and such complacent under-investment. I had to change rooms because of internal noise; I had two blackouts in three days; my key was hardly usable; plus other small quibbles. My complaint was...
