Hotel has clearly seen its best days and rooms are very basic at best. However staff and owner were very friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed one night. Arrived early. Very friendly employee assisted us. Provided clear tips on practical stuff in town, directions, location for food/bus etcetera. They even had bikes brought to the hotel for us and at...

The location is very close to Polonnaruwa historic relics, walking distance. But this is the only good point. No more than that. The window cannot fully be closed so in the evening a lot of bugsflying intithe bathroom, bedroom, and falling down on the bed andfloor like acarpet. I cannot sleep for the whole night. Not recommend it.

I spent the night with my friends, and that was the most terrible hotel in Sri Lanka. At first glance looks room ok, very much space, but in reality that was very dirty room, in my opinion have not been cleaned for quite some time. The sheets were not replaced - we found hairs on the sheets, cushion without covering,...

The place was highly overpriced! The washrooms were poorly maintained and the showers were malfunctioning. Even the rooms were nothing more than basic. The rooms we occupied were probably made in the 1980s and had seen no renovations at all. Even the A/Cs were not working and were just hanging there. My advise - Not at all worth what you're...

Don't ever stay here. The room was not cleaned properly from the previous people. There were items still in my room and blood on the bathroom floor. No toilet paper. The lady gave me a sheet. I show her it had a cigarette hole in it. She didn't care. I had to send the vegetable gratin back. It was some...

We stayed at The Gajeba for 1 night and found the room to be basic but clean enough. The location was perfect for exploring the ancient ruins but the highlight was the excellent service. The owner was incredibly friendly and keen to make guests feel welcome. The staff were efficient and professional and the food was delicious. The room wasn't...

We stayed here 2 nights, chose it for it's excellent location. Really, the location can't be better for the price (3000 for double, after taxes, with air con). The room was clean. The washroom had an aspect of grunge, however. It's been very well used. Water heater was a temperamental beast, so don't expect to get a hot shower. We...

During our round trip in Sri Lanka, we stayed two nights at the Gajaba to visit the ruins of ancient Polonnaruwa. The room was clean and staff was really helpful. The downside, however, was that the only window was facing a concrete wall in about half a meter distance and the air con was that loud, that it could only...

We stayed 2 nights here en route from Anuradhapura to Sigiriya. In my view, driving around Sri Lanka in rented cars isn't the way to see the country. We took the bus from Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa, stayed over and toured Polunnaruwa's ruined city on bikes, taking a full day over it. Proper. Gajaba is friendly, helpful and has a nice...
