Manel Guest House is a friendly family owned establishment a short distance from the famous ancient city of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka. Past the front reception and restaurant area is the main accommodation complex surrounded by lush greenery. The rooms are comfortable and very large. Comfy beds, hot showers, complimentary water, free WIFI, etc. The only problem we had with...

Stayed a night on our way to Eastern Province. Fantastic service and well worth for money . Charge of room is amazingly cheap . It cost less than LKR 2000/- for one night stay with breakfast for two. However the room is without A/c and you don't need A/c at night. For the Dinner we ordered Chicken Kottu and Fried...

We were recommended to stay at Manel's and it didn't disappoint. Location is only 200 mtrs from Polonnaruwa old town junction and shops, and not much further to the ticket office and ruins. Set surrounded by rice paddies, the rooms in the new section at the back were large, modern, nice bathroom, with AC and balcony overlooking rice paddies and...

Nice outlook - it felt as though they were still building/renovating where we were staying. Our room was spacious with A/C and mosquito nets and the bathroom/wetroom was clean enough (no real hot water though) On arrival we had to wake the guy up to check us in, and it became a running theme as we had to wake him...

I frankly recommend this guesthouse, where I had to spend several weeks due to an unexpected problem. Everyone in the staff was attentive and caring throughout my stay, and I could share their easy way of living life which is, by the way, a learning experience.

Manel Guest House provided the ideal one-night stay for backpackers and holiday-goers alike. The room was very well priced, and the staff were very accommodable and friendly, whilst also helping organise bus journeys and recommend places to visit nearby. A highly recommended places to stay in Polonnaruwa!

Very good food and friendly owner. The room was quite okay (the pictures on the web were much nicer), but we had a lot of ants in there, which was really extremly annoying. You can rent a bike, but you need to pay a fee.

We had a nice stay at Manel Guest House. Our room was very clean. The mattresses were good but little bit hard. Toilet and shower in a good condition. Nice western breakfast and good tips for the next days. All staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again and can recommend the guesthouse.

Good relaxing place located at a great place. We stayed at the new blocks , spacious rooms and very very clean. They have a good variety of food and the dishes we tried out were truly tasty. But the catch is, you need to place the order well in advance. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Do not plan to depend...

We read a lot of the reviews about the owners being persistent and can’t say that didn’t happen, but at the end of the day their suggestions ended up being helpful. Because he offered the Safari so promptly we were able to do it the afternoon we arrived, rent the bikes to ride around the ruins the next day and...
