Ideal anti-dote to the large glossy busy resorts in the area. Only eight chalets spread around the surrounding jungle with a walk to each along a track (well illuminated at night) but a tuk tuk available. Our room ('Executive Suite') offered great views of the jungle towards the lake. Very comfortable large bed and lovely outdoor shower area leading off...

Our tour operator had billed this as 'first class' and after staying at Ulagalla our expectations were high. We were terribly disappointed. The rooms, though large, are poorly designed. The bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs with an external shower. The stairs between the two are outdoors. Sounds great - being out in the midst of nature, but believe...

We stayed 3 nights after arriving in Colombo. Our villa was ready when we checked in about 9am. We stayed in Mouse Deer Villa which has a lounge downstairs and the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It's simple in terms of basic furniture which is all you need as with all the windows you feel like part of the jungle. We...

Really interesting rooms with glass on 3 sides so that you can be at one with nature. The views from our room were very obscured by trees so we could only really listen to the creatures living around us.The hotel staff are very friendly and obliging and the meals were good.

We stayed at Wild Grass for three days, and the rooms are very spacious with lots of glass and a very quaint outside shower. The reception area is a bit basic and the restaurant is quite limited (but you stil lhave to give them 45 minutes notice). My wife had prawns on the first night and was violently sick within...

The focus on less rooms creates a wonderful secluded feel in the individual villas. Each one has a beautiful view of the surrounding area which can be viewed at all angles with the rooms having floor to ceiling glass on 3 sides. The outside shower is a great addition and adds to the jungle experience. We also had afternoon tea...

Thank you very much for your review. Very happy to note that you appreciate our concept where privacy and tranquility take priority over quantity. The afternoon 'tea with a view' is a signature initiative of ours and we are proud of the team's efforts to put together the natural seating which was not easy at all. This is a unique...

Close to Sigiriya and other Cultural Triangle sites, the Wild Grass Nature Resort is set among the forests. It has good road access. With only 9 villas, personal attention is assured. Each two storey villa is in a serene forest setting where birds, giant squirrels and an occasional mouse deer visit. Raise the blinds in the glass-enclosed bedroom on second...

The Wild Grass rooms are very unusual - they are a glass box with outside shower surrounded by trees. We loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms clean. The restaurant simple as was the food but good. Fun place to stay for one or two nights.

concept for this nature resort is very good, staff are very nice and are always helpful. houses/cabins are located in grassy/treed areas, which is nice, but there are many bugs/mosquito/geckos outside AND inside your cabin. Not that big of an issue if your the outdoorsy type, but waking up and seeing gecko dropping all over the floor from the geckos...

Service was great, check in was quick but not rushed. The rooms are fantastic. The breakfast was good but evening dinner needs some improvement. Both times we eat, the food was not hot and we were the only guests there. There is a cheeky little bar which is a great spot to relax

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the heart of an enchanting forest, amongst the whispers of trees and magical birdsong, there exists a slice of paradise. Surrounded by jungles, a lake and the Kandalama hills, Wild Grass is a welcoming eco-retreat located in the Cultural Triangle between Sigiriya and Dambulla. Wild Grass is set amidst 30 acres of unfenced forestland that is frequently visited by rabbits, deer, wild boar, monkeys and over 40 species of birds as well as the occasional wild elephant. It is the ideal location for nature lovers, whether families with children, couples or honeymooners, who wish to enjoy their holiday disturbed only by the sounds of nature, while enjoying the ancient history and marvels of the cultural triangle. A strict nature conservation philosophy is followed here and much is being done to preserve the natural eco-system. Organic farming methods are used to cultivate fruit and vegetables for the resort's own use with the balance requirements purchased from the adjoining village. The unique feature of Wild Grass remains its exceptional natural beauty and absolute solitude afforded to the traveler seeking a perfect rest. Intimate and secluded, the resort limits itself to just 8 villas in the entire property, adequately spaced out to make privacy the ultimate luxury. ... more   less
