Erwin and his Hilde were great hosts. Met at the airport. Friendly and accomodating. The highlights were the tour of the local jungle, snorkelling, sloth-spotting, and laying in the hammock while an immense storm threw lightning 20 feet in front of us. A fantastic and memorable stay in an accessible part of the jungle, with two gracious hosts. Definitely thinking...

We spent 4 nights at Heliconiidae last week. As I said, it's a unique place to stay. The Strouwen family are very hospitable, and it really felt like we were staying at a friend's home. We took a 1 day trip with Erwin, who is very entertaining and so knowledgeable about the area and nature. My husband also took a...

In January 2008 my wife and met the Strouwen family by coincidence, and we had a couple of very nice trips together. Luckily someone advised us of this out-of-the-way B+B. Although it involves a short boat ride to get to, it is well worth it for the experience....

It was our second stay at the Bocas del Toro islands. This time we stayed at Heliconiidae, it's a little bit away from the village (and the noise). Colon is a very nice place to stay but sometimes you might need a little rest and a quite place. Then Heliconiidae is the ideal place ! It's very close to the...
