Here's what you need to know: there are bedbugs here. They are in your beds, and they will crawl on you and bite you at night. Enough said...but I'll elaborate. Casa Verde's location is good; it's on the water, and they have a lively bar/restaurant (Mamaloca) there as well. It's great because you can eat good food (great fish tacos)...

Management response:

Thanks for your review. It sounds like you would have had a good experience at Casa Verde had it not been for the bed bugs and we apologize. We HAD bedbugs in a couple of the rooms at Casa Verde. Once we realized the seriousness of the situation we closed the entire hostel down for 5 days (June 15-20, 2012)...

Me and my boyfriend lived in Costa Rica for a year and every 3 months had to leave to renew our visas. As such we always went to Bocas Del Toro and stayed at Casa Verde. The place has a fantastic atmosphere that is very relaxing and upbeat. It has a dock leading right to the water which could not...

To really enjoy Bocas del Toro you need several things - first to stay right on the water, and second to be in a fun, relaxed place. You get both at Casa Verde - and for a good price. My room was a private one upstairs, away from the activity. But for socializing there's a bar and restaurant right there...

Frankly, I almost don't want to write this review because I want there to be room at Casa Verde next time I am in Bocas del Toro. So please everybody, don't jump on a plane and go there after you read this. Casa Verde is the only hostel on the water in Bocas Town. Aqua Lounge is on the water...

Wow what a place! Almost seems like a dream looking back on it - any poor reviews are certainly written by some "odd" types. The music is excellent - I saw world class Jazz, Singer Songwriter, and a cover band who could play exact (and I mean EXACT) versions of songs in 3 different languages. The GM, Kristin, and the...

I stayed at Casa Verde for about a week on my travels, and loved my time there. I found myself recommending it to other travelers more than almost any other hostel on my trip. I loved the location, the staff and guests, and the overall atmosphere. It seems to me that many of the negative reviews here are based on...

Great food, friendly staff comfortable dorms and amazing live music. What more could you ask for??? I arrived in good fashion during peak season and was put into a dorm with 5 bombshells from Argentina. Even after I found more permanent accommodations on Solarte I still frequented Verde daily for food and live entertainment. I met numerous musicians eager to...

I thought that this place would be a decent hostel. With all the hostels in Bocas Town, I chose this one. I wish that I chose another one. At least, when I walked by the other ones, I could see the people sitting in a relaxed area. Casa Verde, on the other hand, did not have a nice lounge area....

We stayed in the dorm downstairs next to the bar for 1 night, and it was a nightmare. The dorm was dirty and loud (there was a mouse in our room), and the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything from the entire hostel, including couples from the private rooms...the dorm is so overpriced for what it is...
