My boyfriend and I had a terrible experience staying at Hostel Bastimentos, and now knowing the area a lot better, there are tons of better options for the same price! Firstly, the service was pretty bad, we had made a reservation but we couldn't find someone working the front desk at first, and when we did she only spoke Spanish...

We rented a double room with a shared bathroom. The room was advertised as having AC but the AC unit was in the room beside it and only slightly affected our room and the others that were in our wing of the building. The room itself was a shoe box, and the floors were not clean. It was dusty as...

First of all, I’d like to say thank you to a wonderful couple that I met while on the main-island at HostelLuego. They invited me to join them for a daytrip to explore the famous Red Frog Beach, which they had bought a room. Well, here’s my 1st-“Helpful Hint”: the last water taxi leaves at 5:30. Lucky for me, their...

We stayed here over New Year as there was not much else available. Didn't start off on a great note as we had travelled that day from San Jose and were a little restless only to be kept waiting 5 minutes while the reception staff finished their conversation. Rooms were basic, small beds but at least the room is kept...

They left us last day without room. We traveled with baby of 1 year. Something incredibly rude!! They knew about our arrival one week ago. Nowadays a lot of hostals (to be sure of travelers) use system of overbooking...

We stayed over in January in a private room with shared bathroom/toilet. The room was clean and had a working fan. Also the shared bathroom facilities were clean and spacey. The only minor points were that there were not enough hooks in the room to hang up your stuff and that the shared kitchen was pretty dirty. I wouldn't recommend...

Don't go here!! The island Bestimentos is really beautiful, but the hostel is not worth the money at all. The rooms are less than basic and it is not clean. Service is really bad.. The staff is rude! If you made a reservation you are not sure that the room is booked. Don't be suprised if they just booked it...

While checking out Hostels in the Bocas area we also took the water taxi to Bastimentos to visit the Bocas bound Hostel..This was previously a workers accommodation site for the guys building the fancy villas inland..this was evident in the cave we were put in (no window and 10x10 with used sheets I had to change myself) ..True there was...

I stayed here for three nights at the end of November 2013. We paid about $35 dollars a night for a double bedroom with some air conditioning (it was shared with the other rooms in the little block, but kept it cool). We shared a big bathroom that was very clean and well equipped. I can´t really complain about the...

Stayed at Bocas Bound a month and a half ago and had a great time! Tom who manages the restaurant is a true gem, he went out of his way to provide us with everything we needed (and he always has great music playing in the common area!). The dorms were clean and comfortable, and had AC to top it...

“"semi-private" can get loud. With or without amorous neighbors, the walls are thin . Dorms I hear are nice or try a full-private.”

“If you're going to stay here, stay in the dorms, they seem to be kept nicer and they have more space.”

“1. The last water taxi leaves at around 5:30, you should check to make sure you don't get stranded like I did... 2. The allusive nude-beach is a bit of a hike, and not really necessary since the locals tolerate topless sunbathers, however, if you want to make the 2.5 mile walk, you will need good footwear, as once the beach ends, you have to walk through the jungle a bit to get to the nude side.”

“Be aware that the semi private rooms do not have enclosed ceilings!”
