Travellers' Choice
An oasis of calm and comfort sums up the understated luxury of Lutyen’s masterpiece- The Imperial New Delhi, bestowed with the prestigious title of the Best Heritage Hotel by Travel + leisure India’s Best Awards 2017 and the only hotel amongst 7 hotels in India to be listed in Conde Nast Gold List for 2018. An iconic hotel and the most distinguished address situated in the heart of the capital, it is reminiscent of the halcyon days of the Raj. A luxury hotel with an awe-inspiring heritage interwoven in colonial elegance, it dwells in its modern delivery of old-style class and magnificence. The royal palms that lead up to the porch are an integral part of and witness to the very creation of Delhi.

Luxury historic experience. The 1930s building really felt like a little part of Britain in New Delhi. I was fascinated by the history of the hotel, original features and tasteful renovation of this property- it feels luxurious but still like you’ve stepped back to the 1930s colonial period. Staff were friendly and accommodating, bathrooms and rooms were large and well appointed. The Art Deco pool was beautiful, large and unique. The food in all the restaurants was very good but a particular mention should go to San Gimignano, which was the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy (and my father is Italian). Rakesh our waiter was superb, perfect balance of attentiveness and discretion. The food in this restaurant was absolutely delicious. A very enjoyable stay.

We came here for a stay with family. Not worth visiting. Right from the checkin when we were given a smoking floor to breakfast which hardly has variety with mostly all dish plates and cutlery wanting immediate replacement, the hotel doesn’t have that class. My first and the last stay here! Even the used confectionery at the breakfast table wasn’t replaced. I believe they cater more to wedding groups than to the ones who come here for stay. Would not recommend to anyone seriously!

Currently staying at the hotel and cannot be more disappointed. The check in was the slowest process ever, the rooms incredibly dated, the bedsheets dirty and the bathroom only has a shower in a bath with a curtain. I would never have expected this in a 5* hotel in India. Compared to other properties we have stayed at in India, which were cheaper, this is a complete let down and not met expectations at all. The whole hotel needs and upgrade; the the first room they gave us was so dark because it faced the car park and so you couldn’t open the curtains- just ridiculous.

Stayed at the Imperial on several occasions in September and was very impressed with the service. I returned for a short stay in October and it was very nice to be back. All the staff very helpful especially Vandana at front of house. the staff at the 1911 bar were welcoming as usual. Manish, Rajesh and the manager made me feel as though I was in my local bar. The staff at breakfast also very welcoming and attentive. Hope to stay a longer period on my next trip. Thanks to everyone there.
