Nestled in the heart of Delhi, The Imperial New Delhi hotel is lauded for its prime location and historical charm that enchants guests. The staff's professionalism and the hotel's range of amenities, including a luxurious spa and diverse dining options, are frequently praised, contributing to a memorable experience. While the hotel's cleanliness receives accolades for pristine conditions, opinions on value are divided, with some finding the dining costs steep. Although the rooms are spacious and comfortable, a few guests suggest they could benefit from modern updates.

Old world luxury and charm supported by an amazingly helpful and kind staff. The hotel is gorgeous- marble floors, antiques everywhere, mahogany clad fireplaces, tapestry like rugs. You feel like you are walking into an Agatha Christie set. The staff is superior in every way and truly want to help. Breakfast room is stunning in decor and the food is outstanding. The chef makes the best omelettes. I appreciated that both women and men were engaged in multiple service roles within the hotel. The spa offerings are just perfect. The massage and facial were some of the best I have ever had. Offer yourself time by the luxurious pool or indulge in your richly furnished room with excellent linens and towels and traditional marble bathroom. The fruit basket and personally written welcome note were quite an unexpected set of treats along with cookies. Loved the “Himilayan” water. Stay here and relax from a noise filled Delhi.

This was our first stop after arriving into Delhi and it was the perfect introduction to India. Security at the entrance is understandably tight but the uniformed staff are friendly and welcoming; women are searched behind a screen. The spacious, marbled reception area exudes the calm and serenity that pervades the whole hotel. After checking in, we were given a brief tour. At every level, long polished marble corridors, lined with wonderful photographs, prints and paintings from India's past and warmly lit at night, give the hotel an aura of grandness and peace. Despite its size, it never felt crowded or busy, even when there was a wedding lunch going on. Our room, at the end of a corridor overlooking the garden, was spacious and well-appointed. The service generally was traditional and efficient with staff assigned to corridors so when we requested an extra towel, it arrived within a few minutes! Water and slippers were left out each evening and a newspaper was hanging on the door in the morning - all part of the service. 1911 is the main restaurant where we had a very tasty light lunch on the terrace outside on arrival. This was also the venue for breakfast, with a huge range of options from a buffet spread and an omelette station. Adjacent to this was a more lively bar with a TV (cricket on constant feed!), perfect for post dinner drinks and a pastry station during the day from which we purchased some tasty quiches for lunch in between forays into the city. We enjoyed evening drinks in the wonderful airy Atrium Bar and a traditional Indian meal, full of flavour, in Daniell's Tavern with live music playing in the background. The hotel is beautifully lit at night and it is well worth taking wander around the grounds. There was the occasional whiff of sewage, of which we made the staff aware, but we were in India (!) and it certainly didn't spoil our stay. Concierge staff were most helpful and the hotel is excellently positioned for exploring. One little gem definitely worth seeking out, especially for bibliophiles interested in Indian history, is the little tucked away hotel bookshop! The Imperial was the perfect oasis of calm in a busy city before we set off on our travels to discover the real India!

Everyone seems to start their Indian adventure in Delhi..the British capital from 1911 til its 1947 independence. It's not a lovely city..no "downtown", just districts, since the city combines about 15 old municipalities. Traffic is horrendous (with continuous horn-honking)..air quality the worst in the world. A few places worth seeing..old Delhi's narrow streets in a tuk-tuk ( motorized rickshaw)..full of trash, stray dogs, cows, goats, and even pigs. The war memorial India Gate framing a long park and the 320 room Viceroy's palace..now home of the Prime Minister.

The hotel is a quiet oasis..low-slung with long carpeted corridors, photos and drawings of the British Raj and elegant wall sconces. A lovely panelled bar..and related casual restaurant facing a long pretty lawn..for meals or breakfast. Also, an Italian and Asian restaurant.

Staff is attentive..but not so much as Taj Hotels or the Oberois.

As the only taste of India's colonial past, we recommend the Imperial..also as an escape from a not too lovely Delhi outside.

ps: the business about bad water and Montezuma's Revenge in India is pretty much of a myth. Top hotels like this filter water by reverse osmosis..and clean fruit, vegetables, and salad materials in chlorinated water. But don't drink from the tap or even wash your toothbrush there. Use bottled water.

The Imperial is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the food is delicious but most of all the staff are so helpful. They recommend a driver called Sodhi who turned up in an orthentic Indian car with seat belts that work and showed me some wonderful places at a very good price which made our trip. His number is 9818290689

When you enter The Imperial you step back a hundred years to enjoy the very best of Raj india. My wife and I stayed just one night and were given a large room with antique parquet flooring and oriental rugs. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in and, believe me, we have tried many in hotels around the world. Whilst the room was gracefully dated the bathroom was right up to date with every amenity you could desire.
We made use of the gym and would love to have tried the spa but the day has just so many hours.
Breakfast in the conservatory was slow, perhaps intentionally so, the buffet was comprehensive. What a shame we were there for just one night.

If you want to experience the Raj, this is the place. It isolates you splendidly, in a luxurious bubble, an oasis from the teeming streets. The rooms are huge, with marble tiles, a sitting area, a separate dressing room, large bathroom. There are special floors for women traveling/rooming alone. There is a camera in the room, so you can see who is at the door. Slippers, robes, good quality toiletries. The plugs are a bit funky, but it seems as if any kind of adapter is accepted. The breakfast spread is magnificent.

The hotel itself is gorgeous, and since I was there during wedding season, I got to see upper class Indians in all their regal splendor. There are four restaurants. Spice, Daniels, Italian and another I can't remember the name. Spicy means very hot food, so I skipped that one. Daniel's is great Indian food. There is also a lovely area for snacks and fresh juices, a bakery and a gift shop, as well as walls covered with world class art. Absolutely no complaints!

The imperial is a stunningly appointed colonial hotel. The quality of all aspects of the hotel is to the highest standards, our suite was well proportioned, wonderful bed and lines and pillows. Dining was very good though sadly the service was not quite up to the standard one would expect from this quality of hotel. Simple things at breakfast requesting tea with cold milk , missing cutlery on the table , very small points though in a very expensive hotel should not happen. That said the staff were always smiling and accommodating though not intuitive.

We booked Imperial hotel Delhi for one of our wedding. It was a 140 room wedding for 2 days.
Rooms are meticulously planned & maintained.

Few very important points to mention here which makes this place super special.
1.It was out an out a Typical Marwari wedding with ceremonies & rituals spread over 2 days.
2. Kudos to chef Sanjay Mishra for Specially curating Pure Jain food no onion, garlic, potatoes & no root vegetables als for all meals.
3. There was not a single person in entire Imperial team who was not gentle or calm.
Special mention here for Mr Shobhit Pathak.
He was instrumental in making sure of making this wedding a super success without any glitch.
They have beautiful Imperial Lawns for hosting big outdoor events and Banquet hall for indoor events.
Their restaurants 1911 and Daniel's Tavern are apt for breakfast, lunches & dinners.
Spice root is their theme based restaurant to specially look for hand painted walls.
Some points to remember while booking this place.
1. It's in a very sensitive Lutyens zone, so outdoor activities are allowed till sharp 10 pm.
2.No fireworks and drone camera is allowed.
3. No loud dhol or band is allowed inside the premises.( Make sense)
4. They have total inventory of 230 rooms from which some rooms are alloted to Some company.
5 . Chk in time is 2 pm and chk out is 12 pm.

We started a 25 day stay in India at this luxurious hotel.
The check in was very easy and we were made to feel like valued guests immediately. We had arrived on a nightflight and chosen to book in for the night of our flight and so went straight to an incredible breakfast. The breakfast choices were limitless and the chef returned to cook my wife some eggs as we had arrived at the very end of the service.. We were not rushed at all.
The building is large and impressive in a very grand way. Our room was not particularly large but all fittings and furnishings were of a high quality which completed the luxury feel.. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom adequately sized. This hotel is about the atmosphere plus service and the experience of staying her. The service is outstanding and you cannot help but feel welcome and valued.
There are three outstanding restaurants if you do not want to venture out for food. We also had afternoon tea on two occasions.
It seems the hotel is a regular haunt for Bollywood stars and so it is not uncommon to see photoshoots taking place.
We stayed for three nights and could have easily stayed longer. It is quite an expensive hotel but I have no hesitation in recommending it.

It was my first visit to Delhi and I chose The Imperial as I appreciate heritage hotels over contemporary luxury. The Imperial breathes history throughout l, on par with Raffles Hotel Singapore and the E&O.

Prior to the stay, the concierge assisted with all the necessary arrangements to ensure the arrival was seamless - I had two members of the hotel team meeting me at the airport. The concierge also arranged a car to and from Agra, which was helpful.

From the moment of arrival to departure, Ankur was my butler who looked after every element of my stay and made sure that every preference was considered. I never even had to carry the room key as he was there to open the door. Without asking too many questions, he promptly realised all my dietary preferences and ensured I was very well looked after. Such service is a very rare example these days.

Other members of the hotel’s team are also warm and genuinely caring without ever being intrusive.

The gardens surrounding The Imperial are kept perfectly manicured and add the valuable dimension of space between the hotel and the city.

Naturally, some parts of the hotel feel quite vintage, however I know the management is planning to look into this. I wish I spent more time at the hotel as it is a gorgeous place for a holiday.

I don't remember seeing any Cigar offer since I am a non smoker but this property has ample amount of open space that is offered to the smokers, so if space is concern you don't need to worry about that, you can have your own cigar that you can enjoy at the 1911 open restaurant.
