Travelling through India for 2 months now and it is safe to say New Bengal was the worst hotel of our trip so far. The receptionisist makes his own job a lot harder than it is and was stressed, rude and un-cooporative 24/7 resulting in our final bill being a complete mess. Our bathroom had only one vent which lead...

Though located very near to all main attractions of Mumbai, this hotel is an old building modified to suit the present day hotel industry needs. Space in rooms is very less. the only lift is very old. Bathrooms and toilets are dirty. Prices are not exuberant but are some what on higher side as compared to services. Reception and housekeeping...

Hotel New Bengal offered decent value for money. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room itself was ok, although the linen wasn't quite clean. However, the toilet worked well and there were hot water available (not self-evident in India). The location is pretty comfortable..you can easily catch a taxi or do like us, walk to Colaba area/ The Gateway...

Stayed for 2 nights and were sadly misled by the website pics (whichever rooms they were they werent the ones i saw) The rooms are of an average size, but very shabby and not overly clean. Mumbai is more expensive but there are better places than this. Dont bother with the airport service. Its overpriced when there is a pre...

Hotel room was ok and clean but because of the near by generator too loud. I paid about 1.500 rupies per night for a single room - what seemed to me a good price for Mumbai (but I had the impression that you could bargain better). The staff was nice and helpful. New Bengal is situated in a good area...

having read some of the other reviews I am suprised by other peoples findings and wonder if they were expecting too much for the money. I booked online about 2 months prior for 2 rooms and when we arrived the rooms were ready and were what we had ordered. Yes the rooms are compact to say the least but are...

Although we had booked and paid for two rooms some time ahead, the hotel tried to fob us off with one, and we had to argue our way to two rooms. Even then, they wanted one of us to change rooms for the second night. My non-smoking room wasn't and staff were curt and unhelpful (put the phone down on...

Spent 3 weeks travelling throughout the north of India before heading to Mumbai. This hotel was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Stayed in many other cheep budget hotels that were fine. I had an interal room, the walls go to about 2 feet from the ceiling, then its just wire mesh. Impossible to get a...
