It is true that Hotel Lawrence is basic, I mean, forget about TV, AC or ensuite bathroom, but I loved it anyway. I really felt at home. It's incredible quite and relaxed, the other guests were also foreigners and the manager was incredible friendly and spoke excellent English. He was very helpful giving me directions as well. It's location is...

We stayed for 4 nights here and you can't get much better a location for this price. 700 rupees got us a double but you had two switches, one for the light and the other for the fan. The beds were clean enough, and with mattress protectors, but this is India of course so don't expect daz shine! The man...

I really like hotel Lawrence, easy walk to Colaba causeway/gateway of India, but set back far enough to keep it reasonably quiet. They do have issues with the water supply sometimes but so does the rest of Mumbai. The rooms are large and airy with big netted windows, no ensuite, so communal bathrooms. There is no electric socket in the rooms,...

At first glance the manager seems friendly, the place is basic but ok... in reality it was a nightmare. I stayed in the room 1 night with no real problem but after seeing the review here I decided to check for bed bugs... and that is when I found one on my arm... there was no way I could sleep...

Budget accommodation is thin on the ground in Mumbai, so we booked ahead via the telephone at the Hotel Lawrence. We arrived at 09:00 am and were pleasantly surprised to be shown to our room straight away. The location is unbeatable, on a quiet street in the Fort area within easy walking distance of all the sights. The rooms were...

The staff were lovely. The room and shower/toilets were clean. Breakfast is included which is good but it does eman you are woken up at 8am whether you are hungry or not! Really downsides are: It is up four flights of stairs, and at night people sleep on the stairs, but there is a tiny lift if you want to...

My wife and I felt very welcome. Very clean. Shared Bathrooms. No A/C, fan only. You can only book over the phone which is a pain if your time zone is a lot different. It has got a great location but good luck getting a taxi driver to drop you off at the right place. I took lots of pictures...

Mumbai/Bombay is one of the most expensive places to stay in all of India, so this was a nice find. I paid 700 Rupees for a room with a fan, which is amazingly high compared to other parts of India, but it's pretty good for Mumbai. The hotel/hostel is hard to find the first time because it's down a bit...
