All you could want in a hostel. The staff is helpful and friendly and there seemed to be lots of fun people hanging about. The rooms are very basic, but comfortable. Bathroom facilities are shared, but clean and convenient enough. The only problem I had is the building blocks no noise at all. Don't even try to go to bed...

Stayed for 2 nights and was a heart warming stay. It is clean, neat and cool. One thing I would recommend to change is the material from the bedroom wall. Although the noises could not be tolerated. It is still a 4/5. Looking forward on future stay!

I stayed at Mori Residence but I had the opportunity to spend time in their common areas at Layang Layang and the staff were very friendly and helpful with maps and intructions for dinner and going around. There is a free renting for bicycle.

Went to stay there recently with 2 other friends for 3 nights. Ambience was nice. Basically near to everything around Jonker. Well, maybe a little walk to get here and there. As you enter, you need to take off your shoes and wear the slippers provided. I must say, the slippers need to be arranged better as it took me...

Thanks Layang-layang for the hospitality. Me and my girlfriend loved our stay. The ambience of the guesthouse is such as like a old house. A walk away from the tour sites. So many cute and original cafes around.

Location was fantastic, just 5 mins walk to jonker street. Rooms were ok, bed was comfortable, but no dressing table / mirror is provided in the room itself, only at the shared toilet. Soundproofing is bad, but totally understand due to the wooden structure, not recommended for light sleepers. Toilets were ok but probably need more cleaning throughout the day, during...

The staff have been friendly and polite the entire stay from when we checked to when we checked out. During the day if you are in the lobby just sitting around, they sometimes come over with fresh fruits and local desserts. The rooms are large and the amenities (bathroom, biscuit+tea+ coffee station) were well maintained and clean. Everything about our...

Due to its wooden structure, you can hear the sound of people talking in the next room, and also hear them walk around - something to consider if you prefer a quiet stay. Shared showers and water closets are properly maintained and cleaned. No towels and breakfast provided. If you're driving, parking will be quite hard to get as its...

I and my friend traveled to Melaka in Aug,2016, just spent 2 days in this ancient place. It is easy to find our guest house. It has a good location which is near to night market, and some attraction destinations. This is the first time we have stayed in a guest house, so we were excited. We find Layang Layang...

Dear Ayumi N, Thank you very much for your review. We are also very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations. Actually, we have some male staff who could assist you with your luggage if you request. Some of our double rooms (only Standard Room No Window) are located on the ground floor....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Layang Layang Guest House is located at Blacksmith Street, which is known today as Jalan Tukang Besi. It is only one-minute walk to Jonker Street (Jonker Walk), and is the best location during your exploration in one of the oldest heritage sites in Malaysia that is preserved till today. The building of the guesthouse is believed to be over 100 years old. Back in the olden days, it used to be a famous opium den, and was once a brothel too! As you stay in the wooden house with history, it often feels like travelling back in time. Its original structure remains, including the large beautiful courtyard that represents the “feng shui” of the house. Fully restored since 2013, the guesthouse offers a fusion of old world charm and modern convenience. Today, it has a total of 20 fully air-conditioned rooms and 8 shared bathrooms that are cleaned and well-maintained at all times and equipped with quality toilet amenities. Combined with modern and heritage design, we assure our guests staying with pleasure and views of the heritage street. Carefully selected room furniture, cozy lobby, and the secret garden create a clean, soothing, and comfortable environment for your breakaway relaxation experience. ... more   less
