We stayed there for 2 nights in rooms and in caravans. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, the water pressure was great and the pool was a delight in this weather. There is more noise when staying in the caravans but nothing that cannot be overcome by ear plugs. Overall, we would stay there again if we come back to Malacca. Thanks for the great week-end Rucksack Caratel !

This is my second time staying at Rucksack Caratel and was there for 6 days 5 nights. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. You will also bump into a lovely ginger cat every morning! These were what made the stay enjoyable. What needs to be improved is the WiFi. It is only good enough for surfing and sending messages but not for uploading photos. On the 5th day onwards, my handphone could not capture the WiFi signals at all and I had to rely on my mobile network. So please buy a Malaysia SIM card just in case. Despite that, I would still recommend friends to stay here. First time customers need to be aware that breakfast is not provided and a RM100 is collected as a returnable deposit to ensure that you don't damage the room's facilities.

Stayed 1 night at The Rucksack Caratel. The location is good - Christ Church Melaka, Jonker Street, A Famosa, Gereja St. Paul, are all within walking distance. Though it was a bit scary when walking alone back to the hotel at night cause nearby is very quiet. Room is clean, but a bit dated; with all the necessary amenities (tooth brush, shampoo, shower gel, iron, kettle, water etc.). The TV reception is not very good. The air-con, I have to switch it off at night cause it is facing to the bed, the wind is coming direct to my face...I can't sleep. I am a bit worry about the curtain when I first go into the room as I am facing the Garden side on 1/F, the curtain cannot really covering all the windows so I need to be careful when changing cloths. Hotel will collect RM 100 deposit, and cash only.

Recently stayed in this hotel and from the moment we got there, the staff were very friendly and helpful. As there was a queue to check in, they directed us to take a seat and called us once the reception was ready for us to check in. Room was very nice and spacious and kept relatively well. The bed was large and comfortable and they even provided a bolster! The only downside to the room is the sink being too near the bed causing some minor splashing especially when brushing your teeth. There wasn't any hand or face towels provided even upon request and that is something I thought was lacking. Other than that, the location is great, a close proximity to Jonker street through a road with minor traffic but far enough from the main street to have peace and quiet at night. The parking provided by the hotel is VERY limited and we were not able to park there during our stay. However, there are plenty of public parking spots just across from the hotel and parking is 5RM per day and can be done through an app. The staff were nice enough to teach me how to use it. Overall a very good stay and the staff made the stay a lot more enjoyable despite the hotel lacking in some ways. A very 'hip' hotel and very much worth the price!

Security is not attending me well, he smoke cigarette and ignore me. Did not guide me when the receptionist unavailable at 10pm. For the room, Dirty toilet, there is smelly liquid found at the toilet from the pipe. door unable to lock properly, providing ripped towels that stuck at my ear stud. Tomorrow morning there is renovations going on without any notice to the customer. Told the receptionist about it, she said she will let the management knows about it and i will receive a call after 3pm within 2 days. But no call has been receive. I am dissatisfied. Definitely will not come again. Not recommended.

Excellent location - a short walk to Jonker street , riverfront and all the things we love in Melaka. Clean and light rooms - excellent for short stay. Pool area refreshing after a day out in the streets of Melaka and before dinner. Only thing I missed was an ice machine - would be handy to have!!
