Made famous in the Sally Field movie Norma Rae . Then the name was mentioned in Sweet Home Alabama. This is a very old but well maintained motel. I understand the name comes from the original owners last names . The current owner / manager has been there 30 years and does not attempt to capitalize on the movie history...

Worst motel I've ever stayed at. Disgusting room and wasn't even that cheap we were charged $44 for a room that smelled like smoke, broken appliances, and SHADY. I was scared to be there in all honesty. When you check in it looks vintagey fhen once you've paid and get in the room it is a total dump.It is clear...

I wanted to stay at an older, independent motel on a recent trip to Alabama and the Golden Cherry Motel fit the bill (plus, how awesome is that name?). This motel, which appears to have built sometime in the1940s, has seen better days. I got stuck around these parts due to bad weather. I don't normally stay at independent chains, but I didn't have much of a choice here. I took it as an opportunity since I was alone without the wife. It was refreshingly comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean, the environment was positively lively. Great downtown location dripping with atmosphere and history. Convenient to shops, restaurants etc. Don't miss the pool.

Franchise quality, trust me. For instance, internet quality and cleanliness was better then most hotel I have stayed. Also, the staff was very friendly.
