The room was clean and spacious. The staff were nice. The location is very good - love that you can easily walk to the beach and that there is a private boardwalk! However, the outside of the place is horribly run down and the pool was too filthy to go in! And that was at the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend. My husband tried to use the net to clean it himself but it was still too dirty. No one was swimming at all. There were no umbrellas at the pool for shade. But the worse was that there was dried something that looked like vomit on one of the tables, lounge chair and ground in one area! I understand that they are understaffed but then this hotel should not charge almost $600 a night - yes, you heard that right. For a Fairfield Inn! Marriot should be ashamed! We only stayed one night.

This was the rudest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel in my life. It was a complete nightmare experience. After driving for 8 hours, being exhausted, all I wanted was to check in and rest. But they canceled my reservation without any cause, we’re rude and unapologetic about it. Offered no assistance, no resolution. It seems like the staff doesn’t want to be burdened with any guests checking in. I ended up having to switch to to a spring hill suites 30 minutes away and despite the inconvenience I will never ever set foot in the Orange beach Fairfield again. You could not pay me money to go there, under any circumstances.

This place is awful. Dirty, smelly, old carpet, lamps don’t work, room was damp, no internet streaming on the tvs, nasty breakfast, unkempt building, I could go on. It’s very clear the owner won’t spend one dime more than forced to. Only plus was the staff were nice people. It’s not on the beach either so don’t be fooled by the name. I cannot stress enough how shockingly awful this Fairfield was. Worst I’ve ever seen and I travel often.

The first bed in room 304 is completely worn out. If you sit on the corner you just about slip to the floor. My husband slept on that one and he never wants to complain or ask for another room. There is a sour smell in the room. I have stayed in this hotel before and the other room was not like this. There is a gross looking stain on the sofa and everything just has a worn look to it. There is also something wrong with the volume on the TV. At full blast you can barely hear it. Another thing to consider if you use the pool or any pool at a hotel. The single, male guest, in front of me, was asking for a first floor room with a window at the pool. He didn't say for what reason. Maybe he just likes to make sure nobody is there before he goes for a swim. I think they have guest, from out of country, staying long term.

THE GOOD: The room was quiet and comfortable, even the beds (which is, in my experience, kind of rare in the hotel world). The included breakfast is very good: Scrambled eggs and cheese omelettes, turkey sausage, bacon, Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, waffles, etc. They even offered Agave syrup in addition to the usual 'Golden Malted' dreck. Housekeeping did fine. Extra towels readily available on request. We had a minor hassle with the toilet, but the front desk responded very quickly with a plunger and I had no problem getting it going again. Parking is free to registered guests. We didn't try the pool, mini-gym or beach access. There's a full-blown supermarket (Rouse's) within easy walking distance if you want a better deal on things like fizzies and snacks than the hotel can provide from their snack bar. There's also an excellent Chinese restaurant in the same complex. THE MEH: The room had a non-functional thermostat which was, literally, hanging off the wall by its exposed (fortunately, low-voltage and inactive) wiring. The A/C unit actually worked just fine, and was easily quiet enough not to disturb sleep, it's just you had to adjust the temperature directly from its front panel (and the dangling thermostat just looks tacky). Also, the hotel itself could use a few more 'blue' (handicapped) parking spaces. OTHER: Wireless internet access worked well during the entire trip: Good speeds, quick response, no problems using VPN or VoIP applications. If you're dependent on a cell/data card for your laptop's connectivity, T-Mobile at least has a solid 5G signal in the area. IN SUMMARY: A good spot to stay? You bet! If I complain about anything, it's the nightly rate seems a bit high. Then again, it's a popular tourist area. You do the math.

The room was fine, but the “free breakfast” was not acceptable. On the first morning & throughout our stay, there was no cream cheese for the bagels. By day 2, they were out of orange juice. By day 3, no Apple juice either. Also, they were out of milk at this point & they bought it at a grocery store within walking distance. On day 4, they bought a gallon or 2 again. On day 5, there were no apples & no milk at all, so unless you like your cereal dry, forget about it. They said the truck was due today. I guess if it arrives after breakfast closing time (9:30), we’ll be out of luck again today. They are cutting corners and it will cost them future customers.

Overall the hotel was ok. Great location within walking distance to the beach, and private gate access to the beach. Hotel itself is a little older and could stand some freshening up. For example, our room had a large hole that been patched in the wall and had not been properly painted over. Staff was friendly and accommodating for the most part but we had 2 very negatives experiences with the staff while there. #1 was with the night clerk on Saturday, July 23rd. My wife and I returned to the hotel around 11 PM and thought we would grab some extra towels on our way up to the room. I approached the front desk and said “Hi! I was wondering if we could get a couple of extra towels please?” Without even making eye contact she (the clerk) responded in a very rude tone “We don’t have any extra towels right now, they’re all in the dryer. You can check back in 30 minutes”. #2 was with the one member of breakfast staff - My wife witnessed the staff member very rudely telling a little boy to “MOVE!” when he was blocking her from placing a new tray of food down on the buffet line. To me, both of these moments were completely unacceptable (especially #1). My wife and I try very hard not to be difficult guests, but we are guests none-the-less and when I’m paying $300+ a night to stay at a hotel, I expect to be treated with professionalism when making a simple request. I shouldn’t have to beg for the staff members to do their jobs correctly. In short, we won’t be returning to this location in the future. For a Marriott property and for the price we payed, I expected more.

We reserved a king room with a balcony with a beach view. It was a tiny room! They haven't had beach views in many years since tall condos blocked them all, which the ck in girl said. We were there for 4 nights. They missed cleaning our room the 1st day. 2nd day we got the bed made and 2 large towels left on bath counter. We had to go to the front desk for more towels. However the hot breakfast was great, the employees were nice and the hotel was clean.

Hotel was decent however I could tell the bathroom hasn't a really good cleaning in a while, there was mold in the shower, the shower curtain and under the rim on the sink. This makes me question how well do they clean the rooms? Overall the location is nice, quiet and priced well.
