Good location (the overall rating of average is for that), just off Nanjing road. Easy access to metro, walking distance to the bund (about 15-20mins), can easily find food. We did not purchase the room before hand, just walked in. Room was fairly clean. But there was a slight cigarette smoke smell, although we requested for a non-smoking room. Our...

Room was nice and clean. The hotel was doing some major renovations so some areas were a little chaotic. Rooms are located from the 2nd floor up, but there is no lift to the 2nd floor. Two flights of stairs is not so good with a heavy suitcase. Location is great, just off the Nanjing walking street, about 300 metres...

We did the reservation via booking.com and mentioned two times that we arrive late in the evening. We arrived at the mentioned time and they did not keep our reservation and gave our room to someone else. They couldn't give us another room either. So we had to look for another hotel at midnight. Plus they can't speak any english...

Apart from the location (which is why i chose this hotel), nothing met my expectation! I took a "Deluxe" room where... Room: Other than the bed, there is no space in room, hardly you can walk. Lack of hygiene and cleanliness Amenities: No Wifi at first, no mobile network in room. i had to wait 2 days to have my...

We had first gone into the 7 Days Inn that was next door before checking the price of this hotel. We found that it was RMB40 cheaper than the 7 Days Inn for a deluxe room, compared to a standard room at the 7 Days. The service was great and we ended up with a very large room. The decor...

We [Australian husband, Chinese wife and our son] wanted a convenient, inexpensive place to visit friends during our extended China holiday. Shangfu [Starway] is clean, comfortable [hard beds though-standard in China], friendly helpful staff [little English, so my little Chinese was greatly appreciated], and a few metres off Nanjing Donglu. Only drawback is some wall partitions are hollow timber, so...

Check in this hotel after read reviews from tripadvisor. With the room price, it is consider reasonable since it is just located at Nanjing Road. Need to take your own luggage and walk up to stairs because elevator is located at 2nd floor and the elevator can cater for 2 person with luggage. Hotel staff is friendly. They even let...

Checked into this older hotel after staying in one of the more expensive hotels on Nanjing Road. It is a very good bargain for 298RMB/night. The hotel does not accept credit cards and will need to pay for each day in advance with cash. Access to the rooms is by the elevator which is on the second floor, and you...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
