Located near the Shanghai Indoor Stadium metro station and not too far from the international airport, the FX Hotel is situated near some nice bar streets. For only 3 or 4 rmb you can go to the city center and the Bund, with 1 or 2 transfers. Ideal for someone who wants to explore the best places in the city.... More

Honestly, I've been to Shanghai 3 times in the past 1.5 years. I've stayed here all 3 times. The staff speaks English, the rooms are modern, but small, and the surrounding area is the best. There's wifi in the rooms with a landline plug and it is perfect for traveling businessmen or people on the go. Unfortunately on this last... More

I recently stayed in the FX hotel Xujiahui hotel for the 2nd time, and once again, a particular front desk attendant provided extremely poor customer service. The first time i stayed in the hotel, this particular front desk clerk " Jane" asked me in a very rude manner who's booking it was for, and proceeded to act very rushed and... More

Arrived hotel at 7am, early check-in request could not be accommodated because housekeepers have not reported for work - there were no clean rooms. Waited at the lobby till 9am but was entertained by a Chinese movie playing on a small LCD screen. Could not fault hotel for this since they do not have round-the-clock housekeeping. First impressions: 1. Hotel:... More

FX Hotel is situated right opposite the National Stadium MRT line. Food and entertainment is within reach and there is a shopping arcade just a block down from where the hotel is. There is a very famous Japanese shochu bar serving authentic ramen and yakimon around the corner. It is a must try ! It's called Kota's Kitchen. Turn right... More

My husband and I have visited Shanghai twice in the last 1.5 years and both times were impressed with the value and location we received at this hotel. You get hot water, clean rooms, free internet, cable TV, comfortable/warm beds, free bottled water, and great customer service. The strange thing is that the bathroom is made of all glass, so... Dirty, small room. Not much English speaking. Good place if you have to attend an exhibition. Lots of places to walk to and the sub way to next door.

Reception didn't really speak English, staff not so helpful and cold, except for the door bell guy who helped us to carry our suitcases from taxi to hotel and up to the room. Lobby overall looked modern but stairs and some parts of the hotel looked worn-out. Elevators worked fine. Th room was very small, all cramped, quite dark. Our... More

Since my last review we have been twice back at the FuramaXpress Hotel. It's still a great little Hotel (118 rooms). Sometimes it's comforting to know that things haven't changed. And so it is with this Hotel. Still friendly, English speaking staff at reception who are always happy to help and greet you with a smile. This time we chose... More

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in September. The hotel had funky decor in the corridors and the rooms were comfy and well appointed. Our room had a king bed, a small desk and comfy office chair and a sofa chair. The tv had many channels including several English ones. The mini bar had a few basic things... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.

“Don't buy the breakfast vouchers, get a bigger room if your budget permits as the rooms are really quite Hongkongly small and don't be disappointed if you don't get a non smoking because the people here literally smokes in any room they get.”

“It's wonderful, to be able to open the windows if one wants to. But adjustable airconditioning works a treat. Windows are double-glazed and there isn't much noise coming up from the street once the window is closed. We always book the Delux room as they seem to be a bit bigger.”
