Located right beside Raffles City and train station. Within walking distance to many Malls and restaurants. Hotel is nicely decorated and room was clean and spacious. However, the toilet had a funny smell and our room (521) was soooo cold all the time despite turning on the heater already.

Such a wonderful stay because this place is coceninently located in the heart of the city. Easy to get to places and the subway is just down the street. Came with my parents no they loved the ambience of the hotel. All the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was elegant and beyond...

Perfect location & easy to access to Nanjing road. Great rooms: clean and silent. Staff at hotel mostly good but except the lady at front desk(eyeglass wearing), she showed kind like angry emotion to us once we check-out. and not even said Thank you. It made us feel VERY VERY bad attitude....

Our second visit to this lovely hotel which is perfect for sightseeing around People's Square as well as a taxi ride away from the fairs. The food hall on Nanjing Road is fun to look around and the Macau restaurant on the top floor is teeming with staff and the food was great. Raffles shopping mall is just over the...

The hotel history can be traced back to 1920s. It's a historic hotel, however it's still modern designed and well equipped. The hotel room is the largest compared to all hotel rooms I stayed among Shanghai no matter which district given I travelled to shanghai for more than 20 times for business. Recommend to you all.

First the negative, wheelchair access is quite difficult. However after our 3 days and 2 nights in Shanghai we soon realised that disabled access is an issue city wide. That said the staff were helpful in giving us access and were always on hand. We were there early so room not ready but they took care of luggage and gave...

I guess a big priority when booking a hotel is getting some sleep. This was difficult in my room. I normally sleep deep and will not be woken up by much. But the travel of noice from one room the next was too much in this place. Main doors to the rooms slam really hard - no soft closing. I...

Lovely building, small hotel by Shanghai standards, atmospheric common areas. Makes much of its history and why not! Used to be 3rd biggest western style hitel in China. Luxurious but small room. Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the center of Shanghai with endless flow of people, there is a place that could take you back to the 1930s to appreciate the golden age of Shanghai. That is The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai. The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai, an Art Deco masterpiece infused with gold age of Shanghai, owns the superior geographical position. Located in the People's Square, centre of Shanghai, the hotel enjoys convenient access to all parts of the city with the Shanghai Metro Lines 1/2/8 less than 30 meters from the hotel. Moreover, the hotel is bordered by major cultural and entertainment highlights within walking distance, such as Nanjing Pedestrian Road, People's Park, the Raffles City, the Shanghai Museum, and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. This hotel attracts guests with its private and graceful environment instead of the splendid and magnificent impression. The stained glass dome looks so gorgeous with carved staircase winding up. The candlelit crystal lighting collocates with palatial valance creating the elegant and sumptuous atmosphere. The unique collections displayed on the wall of guest room floor corridors, such as jewelry boxes, manual-shaving-hair tools, ancient door latch, traditional pipes, ladies' hand bags, Hawksbill needles, cookie boxes, etc, all tell guests the history of Shanghai. Entering each room, the song " Rose, Rose, I love you" reminds each guest of the prosperity of the old Shanghai with its sweet voice and nostalgia melody. Standing on the guest room private balcony, you could feel the quick pace of the modern city while retrospect the past good times at the same time.Yangtze Hotel, the predecessor of The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai, opened in 1934, owns 80 years of history. Decorated with lavish art deco style, this hotel was touted as "The Third Largest Hotel in the Far East" by the renowned architect, Li Pan. This hotel used to be a popular social resort gathered many celebrities and movie stars, and it was exactly the birthplace of the most classic and well-known song "Rose, Rose, I love you". In order to inherit this cultural heritage, Yangtze Boutique reserves this song as the background music in the room, and names one suit of room as "Rose Suite" to be one of the signature of the hotel, which becomes the favorites of many guests. Over the past 80 years, the Yangtze Hotel witnessed the ups and downs of Shanghai. In 2009, the Yangtze Hotel was renovated gorgeously and re-emerged in a great sumptuous way, reserving the classic Art Deco design style while mixing the 1930s old Shanghai style together. Just like the time flying back, The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai guides guests back to the glamorous and extravagant life in old Shanghai with great charm and elegant demeanor. ... more   less
