On my birthday last year, under the reservation of my boyfriend, we went to this hotel together, and I have to say it was a very good memory. The reason why I choose this hotel is because I have always trusted InterContinental hotels, and I will always choose InterContinental wherever I travel. The experience of this trip made me trust InterContinental even more. We checked in in the afternoon, the front desk supervisor served us very kindly, recommended the food near the hotel for us, and answered our questions about the usage time of the facilities in the hotel in great detail. After that, we went to enjoy the afternoon tea at the hotel, a little sweet is not for me, but my boyfriend liked it. Then in the afternoon, we strolled around the hotel. I have to say that the location of the hotel is good. There are many shopping malls. This is the most attractive place. You can buy everything you want, in all grades and prices. After dinner with friends in the evening, we returned to the hotel, I would like to say that the view from the room is really good, with a very beautiful night view of Shanghai. I remember sitting by the windowsill for at least 15 minutes that night to enjoy the view. The facilities in the room are very complete, the sanitation is really good, and the area is very large, which is very suitable for family travel and other activities. Another thing that makes me very happy is that the hotel's transportation is very convenient, it is very close to Shanghai Railway Station, and it takes about ten minutes to walk to the subway station. If, when can I go back to Shanghai, I think this will be my first choice.

Beautiful hotel conveniently located to many parts of Shanghai visitors will want to go, close to major arteries to cut down on travel time.

Property is in excellent condition, gym had everything, pool was in good condition. Rooms were very well appointed and bed was fabulously comfortable. The view from the higher floors isn't 'iconic Shanghai' but very nice nonetheless.

Staff were very courteous and breakfast was very well prepared with a nice selection. Highly recommend the Jing'an Intercon and will definitely be back.

I booked two nights of the Club Intercontinental Premium Room and they provide service in the Club Lounge. When I went there, the managers stood up and welcomed me with smiles on their faces. The atmosphere there was good for studying and working, because it was quite. The environment was very luxuries and attracting. The club managers gave us a great service. I appreciated for the service that Stone, Guji and Bunny gave me. When I was leaving the lounge, they chatted with me and wished me had a great time in Shanghai. The recommended me some great tourists to visit and some bars for us to go after dinner. I had a good time there and I will definitely visit the Club Lounge again.

Stayed for 4 nights to attend a conference. Arrival a hotel was promptly met, greeted and escorted to front desk. Lobby is impressively expansive but a little sterile. Check-in was serviced by a gentleman who was non-chalant, robotic and non-interactive. Ascribed room was erroneous - the keys did not work and was informed the room number on the key was written incorrectly - sigh. The "correct" room was very nicely laid-out. There were clear attempts to make it aesthetic which is appreciated; for example, there is an abundance of cupboards that are not needed except to make the room feel warmer. There is an adequate number of electrical outlets but you have to find them as they are cleverly concealed in cupboards and boxes. Everything worked well in the room - curtains could be managed by switches adjacent to the bed and the bathroom was of a good size and came with amenities; water shower pressure was good. Climate control was sluggish and allowed cooling to only 19C. Partook in room service on 3 occasions; delivery time was good but personnel making the deliveries were invariably rude. They did not wait for me to clear space on the table to place the tray - they instead left them on the couch at the bottom of the bed saying they were busy and cannot wait. I would have challenged the behaviour but these guys looked like they were in a foul mood and I just wanted to get to the food - which was acceptable in quality. On one occasion, one of the orders was missing and when I called to ask for it, the person on the other side sounded incredibly irritated, garbled something and then cut me off - sigh. I also ate at the Koi Japanese restaurant which provided good sushi - but skip the set menu (served at a pace that indicated they just wanted to get it over and done with). Breakfast at the Ecco came with expected selection of Asian and Western food - quality was acceptable but not good; they can do better. I also took a session at the Yan spa - the person was clearly not trained and the experience was terrible. Conference facilities were excellent - everything worked flawlessly. I am not sure I would return given the excellent options in the vicinity - mainly because of the personnel. Folks are not happy working at this establishment and they are passing that on to their clients.

Checked in for a four night business stay and immediately noticed how hot and stuffy the cavernous lobby area is.
Check-in process seemed to take forever and had a disorganised feel to it as if there was no proper oversight or management.
The hallways are dingy and when I got to my room I was appalled at the damp smell and atmosphere. The aircon, phone, bedside lamp and bathroom tap didn’t work properly.
I requested a room change and the surly receptionist assigned me a new one without once looking at me. New room was considerably better (had functioning taps for example) but still had a distinct damp smell.
Staff in the bar area were extremely slow and couldn’t make simple drinks that were listed on their menu.
Breakfast buffet was messy and again felt uncomfortably hot due to its first floor location.
Housekeeping staff did a good job to be fair and the laundry I put in was returned quickly in good order.
Clearly I wouldn’t advise staying here. Intercontinental need to sort their act out as this place is as bad an advert as they could have.

Check in service is good and Coco Wang helped a lot to arrange the room. The room and facility is quite old and there is no plug / USB besides the bed it’s quite inconvenient.

The breakfast is a disaster, too many guests and it is quite messy, filthy, and the food quality is awe full. The staff are not happy and I don’t see any energy but just tired. The management sells the vouchers to attract the neighbors therefore lots is load comes on the weekend. The service quality quite ruins Intercontinental brand.

One stay is enough and won’t consider to stay again.

Recently stayed at the InterContinental Shanghai Jing'An, and it was truly disheartening.

Poor Reception Attitude: The hotel's reception needs an overhaul in terms of attitude. Communication lacked politeness and professionalism, leaving a sour taste from the start.

Dilapidated Rooms: The rooms were surprisingly old and run-down, falling short of the expected InterContinental standards. A significant letdown that affected the overall experience.

Lack of Atmosphere: The absence of an atomizer created a lifeless ambiance, making the place feel like a ghost town. A little attention to detail could go a long way in improving the overall atmosphere.

Subpar Customer Service: Terrible customer service prevailed throughout the stay, marked by a lack of attentiveness and a disinterest in guest satisfaction.

Ineffective Doormen: Even the doormen failed to contribute positively to the experience. Their lack of usefulness further added to the disappointment.

In conclusion, the InterContinental Shanghai Jing'An did not meet the expected standards, and there are undoubtedly superior options in Shanghai. A rather disappointing stay, and I would recommend exploring alternatives for a more satisfying experience.

Very pleasant stay. Has been couple of years but service has improved much from my last visit. Now days the second tower has become Indigo Hotel (also IHG) but main restaurants, gym, swimming pool and club lounge are still in the main building.

Very clean and safe in the Covid nightmare can well recommend a stay.

Stayed here for a 3-day company event, not our personal choice. The hotel has a huge and empty atrium but few lounge seats for guests to rest, many lounge seats near the reception are part of their bar lounge so guests can only rest on them if they order drinks. The hotel room size is big for comfort, quiet even though it's facing the highway - excellent sound proofing! However the water didn't drain quick enough in the shower so we were literally standing in foamy water of about 1-2" high while taking a shower. Reported the issue at the front desk but the situation persisted throughout our stay. The staff at the front desk/reception speak limited English, never give a smile and can't offer any suggestions for nearby attractions - there's obviously a lack of customer-oriented service attitude, same goes with the waiting staff at breakfast - they would just take away our plates or cups without asking, not even uttering "excuse me". Location-wise, it's about 15 mins walk from the nearest metro station, one being the Shanghai Railway Station which is convenient for catching the inter-city high speed trains. Not near to any interesting shopping mall but there are some nice cafes and eateries a few blocks away.

Nothing really exceeded my expectations and so many small things can be improved here. A few examples:

1. When I arrived the doorman was sitting inside and doing nothing. Didn’t even come up and help me with the luggage. Just pointed me to go to the check in desk myself.

2. Bathroom toilet has mechanic issue and when I told the staff about it their first response was that I don’t know how to use it.

3. Breakfast was served at the restaurant on 1st floor and it’s basically freezing every morning.
