Ours was a quick stay after a cruise on the Yangtze River. The staff was great. The room beautiful, including a luxury bath. Breakfast was yummy. Our only regret: we couldn't stay longer. We had to catch a plane the next morning

Had 3 nights here in June and was quite delighted with Hotel rooms, staff and facilities. Excellent room standards and large separate bath was a bonus. Had 2 evening meals in the hotel bar which were very enjoyable and it was surprisingly quiet. Loved the Bar interior with the Art Deco style art. Don't bother eating next door at the...

Very comfortable hotel, friendly helpful staff. Great varied breakfast. While location is slightly out it means that it is quiet. Only 20 yuan for a taxi down to busy part of the bund. View was high floors was excellent (when the smog cleared)

The hotel is well located and the rooms are super spacious and well maintained. The staff is very cordial and speaks good English. The breakfast spread is extensive with good options for vegetarians. Will surely recommend to stay here.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in March 2016. It was a little far from the tourist sites but the hotel itself was wonderful. Really comfortable bed and a wonderful bathroom with large glass shower and free-standing tub. The breakfast bar was excellent -- western plus international cuisine. The food in the bar was really...

Staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were tidy and clean. The bathrooms were particularly impressive. Most hotel guests were group tours (main reason for my choice as I was meeting relatives who were stopping over in Shanghai as part of their tour). Location is not central and there were not many restaurants nearby, although there were a few...

Stayed at Sunrise on the Bund for 3 days during a China tour. Hotel staff were very helpful, spoke English reasonably well. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was very handy to all attractions in Shanghai.

A kind of historic building close to the Bund. The room are nice and most without building in front. Only problem is that there are quite a lot of groups and the check in can take for ever. Same for check out. Breakfast is good

We were very excited to stay at this hotel. We stayed on yellow mountain the night before (mediocre accommodation), had been up since 4am to watch sunrise The outside of the hotel and lobby is beautiful. The staff all say hello, however only 1 employee actually smiled and looked welcoming during check in. Bags were taken to room and room...

This hotel is in a great location. Just minutes away is the Bund with its stunning views. Surrounding the hotel are many restaurants and convenience stores. The hotel has four restaurants which are all very expensive. Breakfast was included with our room and it was fabulous. The staff in the hotel are all eager to be helpful and can speak...

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
