We made a three day reservation for me and two children (ages 9 and 11) on the executive floor. Upon checking I was informed that the room with the executive lounge access would allow only two of us breakfast and two of us lounge access. Obviously this is both disappointing and not very logistical. I'm not sure why you have...

I was in Shanghai for 3 nights and stayed at the Marriott city center. This was probably one of the best experiences I've had at a Marriott (I have Gold status). The staff is courteous and friendly all throughout the hotel. Special thank you to Sunny and her team in the executive lounge. Breakfast was plenty and filling, the staff...

We used our points to stay at the Marriott near the bund and it was amazing. The location was perfect as it was close to the metro line as well as the shopping centres. What made our stay even better was when the Concierge Supervisor, Jack Lang, helped us out in a tremendous way. We had left a luggage bag...

Beautiful city that must be seen. I rode the hop on hop off bus to see this city during the day and learned where everything was located. This city is small but compact with so many people. I ate lunch in a small Chinese restaurant down an alley off Nanking St. food was good and reasonably priced. Chinese people are...

After we checked into the hotel on April 17, the hotel General Manager Mr. Frank S. came to meet with my wife and me in the Executive Lounge since we are at the Platinum Elite level. Even though we are at the highest elite level with Marriott for many years, this was the first time that the GM of a...

I would like to give this hotel 5-stars but unfortunately my review is focused mostly on the smell of smoke in my "non-smoking" room. I walked from the People's Square metro and had a smooth check-in. Up into my executive-level room (3420 I think) I got the feint smell of cigarette smoke upon entering, as if the person before me...

Dear TravelinEvertonian, Thank you for taking the time to post a review and advising me of the challenges you encountered with regards to the smell of smoke in your room. The Shanghai government has implemented a smoking ban as of 1 March, 2017 which is also applicable to hotels. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hotel and there are...

This is a beautiful hotel, incredibly comfortable, and what a spectacular view! The bathroom is spacious with a soaking tub and separate shower, and felt very open with an enormous wall window between the bathroom and bedroom. The location was very convenient for walking around Shanghai. We walked to the waterfront and Confucius Temple. This is a gorgeous hotel, perfect...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
