We took a flight to Shanghai from Guilin and found that the property is easy to access from the airport via the subway and a fairly short walk from Xiang Yun Temple station. When we first arrived at the property we realised that it was down a back alley from the main road and was a couple of metres away...

The one and only problem I had while staying at Le Tour YH was finding it at 10PM. Stayed at a 5-pax dormitory on the ground floor; the room was quiet, the shared showers and toilets were clean. The common area is nice, though a bit chilly. Breakfast was the normal Western - Chinese interpretation of american breakfast. Staff were...

I visited Shanghai recently as a chaperone with 18 students. We stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors in doubles and the rooms were simple and clean. Winter nights were cold but the heating system quickly warmed up the small space and we enjoyed 4 great nights. The showers were amazing especially when we returned from a 4-day rural home...

I regularly visit Shanghai and always stay at Le tour Shanghai youth hostel. The hostel is very clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and it is very affordable (not western prices)! It is in a great location near Jing'An temple with the metro a short walk away. I highly recommend staying here.

Make sure to turn on your A/C to heating setting otherwise you may freeze like I did last winter. A really fantastic place located near a metro station. The staff were really helpful organising anything that we wanted to see or do in Shanghai. Recommend this place to any traveler in Shanghai.

I've stayed here numerous times, the rooms are always clean and in good order. It's basic but better than a Jin Jiang Inn, Hanting Express or other budget hotel. The location is excellent plenty of cheap restaurants of all kinds near by, Jing'an is a good area to base yourself. The staff are always as helpful as they need to...

Service in China is already pretty awful, but in this hostel here in Shanghai, it's at it's absolute worst. I chose to stay here for a month while looking for employment simply for the "low" price they offered. Bad idea. STAFF: The staff acted as if they were inconvenienced when asked the simplest requests. No one working there seems to...

This was a pleasant clean small hostel close to the subway. It was a bit out of the Shanghai tourist area. That made it interesting for us. It had some food shops close by - we particularly enjoyed the street side fruit and nuts stall where the couple running it roasted the nuts on the premises. Not sharing a language...

The problem here is the staff. Some highlights: 1. I watched the owner toss a bag of cat food into the face of a Chinese guest, retaltiation for the "sin" of accidentally letting the kitten slip inside through the back door. 2. I got locked out of my dorm room late at night, and the staff attendant wanted me to...

Our room was clean enough, with bathroom and a wide shower. The hostel is not central but the underground is quite close. People at the reception speak fluent english. We got there in the heart of the night and we have been kindly welcomed. Free internet connection for 1 hour. No kitchen but a bar where you can buy breakfast...

“Ask for a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor away from the main stairs. As this is a hostel, it's common that some people arrive late from partying and the ground floor can be quite noisy.”

“There is no lift, if you have a lot of luggage ask for a 2nd floor room.”

“We were fortunate to be given a room on the first floor. With no lift or elevator we were glad not to drag our suitcases too far. With black out curtains the light outside was not a problem.”
