On our recent trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama we booked accommodations at the Yellowhammer Inn. This was our first visit to the Inn and although it had been highly recommended it far exceeded our expectations.

You can eat breakfast at the hotel and they have a liquor license, so you can get a drink, but there is no restaurant. However, there is a nice big deck and a frig in the room - you might think about grabbing some picnic type stuff while you are in town and taking it with you to eat on the deck. The Yacht Club is next door and there is a country club within a 1/4 mile - I'm not sure if you have to be a member to eat there. I suspect so, but it might be worth a call. Everything else is a fairly good drive away.
