At a first glacé it look nice. Unfortunately this fades away very fast. Herr Pete's attitude towards its 'inmates' is shocking. The amount of rules is staggering. Here's my top six... - 5 USD if you throw away green trash in the wrong basket - 10000 colones is you borrow (yes borrow, thus not stealing!) food from a fellow traveler... More

We stayed at the hostal Gringo Petes Too for too nights, as its awesome value for a private. The hostal has a great view for sunset, a really large kitchen (one of the best Ive seen) and was great value for money. Unfortunately though, they don't seem to take care of there accounting very well. We paid first thing in... More

We spent our first two nights in La Fortuna on the main strip, and ended up paying a lot more money for our hotel/hostel (around $40-45/night). Then we found Gringo Pete's Too. We'd read mixed reviews, but after meeting Juan Carlos and checking out the rooms, we decided to give it a go. Wish we'd found it sooner, and I... More

Stayed for one night at Gringo Pete's Too...ample space in room, clean sheets and towels, bathroom satisfactory. Only complaint would be management - the woman there when I arrived was very unfriendly, and the other guy was extremely rude with me and several other guests. Close to bus station and good value overall for the $7.

Wow, such a good price for a clean room with private bathroom. Only $7p.p. is briljant for Costa Rica. The staff is super friendly and helpfull. Nice big kitchen (Unfortenatly old pans). Upstairs they have a couch to chill out. We did a night hot springs tour with them. The guide really did his best to make it an enjoyable... More

If you value the power of your conscious descisions and care for where your money goes, don't go here. Actually if you value your time Just try any different place. This guy is on a power trip. He treats his customers like flies and his workers look absolutely abolished. Hes a control freak, doesnt listen, does not allow room for... More

Unfortunatly we ended up at Gringo Pete's nr 2 which was the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. Our room was tiny and extremly humid. We did'nt get any information about the hostel at our arrival and we ended up getting thrown out because I accidently threw the garbage in the wrong bin. The staff was incredibly rude and we... The manager at Gringo Pete's Too was very unprofessional. When checking in, the lady told us we could smoke in the courtyard and told us that the kitchen didn't close. They also didn't tell us what time they expected us to return to our rooms. When returning from a night out, the manager came down and started yelling at us... More

My girlfriend and I stayed 2 nights in early Jan and wish we stayed longer. The rooms are dirt cheap, the ensuites are clean and the kitchen is sufficient for all meal prep. The free coffee at breakfast is good. And somehow, they offer the best prices for any tour, even better than going direct to the company. The place... More

The hostel was very nice located and the rooms were quite nice. But the people who worked there, eapecially the man, was so terribly rude that I have to write this review. He complained to us the first thing he did, about us not throwing the garbage in the right bin. Which was not right and even though, they should... More
