The pools are nice but do not book with the food. The restaurant is buffet style but doesn’t follow basic higiene rules. They serve the main courses which are really basic, not tasty and cold (the meat was barely chewable) and the rest is self service with everyone touching everything without gloves. It’s ten minutes from town where you can find many nice restaurants.

Booked a stay for Feb 2022. Had to cancel due to rising COVID cases. Policy says it can be done with 30 days notice and full refund. It’s been 2 weeks and nothing. Hotel is also not responding to emails.

My boyfriend and I payed for a day pass + diner. Unfortunately we had an emergency and we needed to go back to our Airbnb so I asked to get a refund for my diner because I wouldn't have time to eat at their buffet but the refused. The manager was extremely rude, barely listening to what I was saying. I would not recommend this place.

Alleged 5* Hotel … more like a roadside motel. We arrived, American football on big TV screens, and people hanging over their drinks. The front desk overcrowded with day pass tourists. Unfriendly staff… we had to drag our suitcases ourselves up the hill where the rooms are. Entering room 1405, we were greeted by terrible sewage smell… like an “egg-fart” - I’m sorry to write this. The room was rundown and smelly. Before hitting the pools I took a shower - just to realize we had no towels in the room. Side note: impossible to take a shower without setting the entire bathroom underwater. Also, we didn’t have warm water one morning. Housekeeping kept replacing our towels with bath robes - at the end we had 4 bathrobes and again no towels. The walls are very poorly isolated - you can literally follow the conversation of the people next door. The TV was so low-res that we turned it off after 10 minutes. The WiFi keeps disconnecting every 2-3 minutes. The breakfast was ok - unfortunately the staff that hands out the food don’t know what’s inside. I’m vegetarian and had several times meat in my “vegetarian rice”. The pools are nice but were crowded with locals, I noticed a woman wearing jeans and a bra. Others in T-shirts and shorts. Reception staff couldn’t or didn’t want to help us with tips on what to do in the region. Clearly they all checked out now that they handle busses of day-passers. I wish I could turn back time and book somewhere else. Definitely not 5* and ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH 500$/night. As we were leaving, we noticed a vomit stain in the central way up to the pools - I will never return.

Room Tip: If you have kids and want to enjoy the pools and slides, half a day trip is absolutely enough.

My family of 4 spent four nights at this hotel prior to Christmas. I must say, they have the 'wow factor.' The hot springs upon entry are beautiful. The rooms were spacious and we enjoyed mornings and evenings on the balcony. While the resort was not crowded, we did not feel comfortable leaving any belongings in chairs by the pools. They sell day passes to other tourists which gives you less of a feeling of security. We ate at both the property (Virgita) and a couple of soda's in town. The breakfast buffet was very good (they serve you for COVID safety) and the dinner at Virgita was great. If you go into La Fortuna, you will need to take a cab or uber since there are no sidewalks. It's about a 5 mins drive. The hot springs were great...I think we got in at least 20 of them. However, my tween girls would have preferred to also have a standard temp pool so they could play pool volleyball and not overheat. While in the area we did several tours (ATV, waterfall, arenal, hanging bridges). The hotel has a great location for accessing the tours/activies. Overall, good service and clean property. 2 things to keep in mind -- Drinks were very expensive ($20 for a mixed drink) and it was very difficult to get towels for the pools. Overall, we had a good stay and are glad we stayed at Baldi. In my opinion, it is the type of place you experience once.
