My first time in Costa Rica, my girlfriend and I spent 6 nights in La Fortuna at Volcano Gold. William, the owner and manager of the hotel is the coolest and most cheerful guy you will ever meet. Like the guy was crazy happy all the time with a huge smile and a infectous laugh that makes you want to laugh with him. Awesome host, he made our experience 10x better. He exeplifies the Costa Rican motto, "Pura Vida".

The first night we got there he sat us down with a map and helped plan out our adventures each day. He gave us tips on the best times and days to do certain activities and avoid the crowds, as well as reccomending the best tour companies. He was a huge help in navigating the language barrier, he helped call our tour company to confirm pick up times and even ordered pizza for us!!!

So the hotel off the beaten path on a dirt road, a little more than 5 minutes off the highway. Maybe like a 10min drive from town, and a way better option than being in the middle of everything. It's quiet and you feel like you have your own special enclave in the rainforest (there is only like 5 rooms).

Good size pool is great to cool off in, but the hot tub was my favorite, it's in a gazebo with christmas lights a little ways away from the hotel surrounded by jungle. SO COOL!

Don't count on going out for breakfast, becuase the provided one is fantastic, (pro tip: go with the costa rican and load it up with green sauce). If you get up early enought you can see toucans from window while eating breakfast! :)

My one critique is our bed was a little hard and quite squeaky (wink, wink) if they got some softer mattresses the hotel would be perfect.
If you are looking for a rambunctious resort experience, this isn't your place. It's down to earth, small, quiet, and wonderful.

So go stay at the Volcano Gold and let William help you make your Costa Rican trip the best it can be!!!

We were a group of 4 who stayed at this wonderful small hotel for 3 nights. It’s location is 10 minutes out of town in a lovely forested area at which you are surrounded by nature.
Thank you to Karleyding and William for looking after us and doing all they could to make a sure our stay was awesome.

This family owned hotel was absolutely amazing. Everyone that works there is friendly. The location is perfect and the prices are affordable. It is a short stop away from Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna waterfall (you can swim here). The breakfast is delicious, you get three options (American, continental, or Costa Rican). There’s a small pool and hot tub out back. I saw some toucans on our last morning up in the trees over the pool and a gorgeous giant moth. Ask William about the tours if you don’t know who or what to book. He can help you find the best companies. Short stop away behind the hotel we went waterfall repelling which was fantastic. Thank you William for making our stay so great :) We appreciate all your help and your charismatic energy!

Me and my wife recently stayed in Volcano Gold Loft for 6 days and we absolutely loved it!!
The hotel is nestled in the Costa rican jungle away from the busy town of La Fortuna so privacy is guaranteed. Rooms are great size and feel modern. Breakfast is included from 2 wonderful cooks. Unfortunately we never got their names but the food was great. Hats off to them!!!!
William who is the front desk attendant is just fantastic. He was very friendly, funny, and helpful. His food recommendations were right on the money. great balance of quality and price. We can't say enough about him. If you stay at Volcano Gold Loft you will not regret it. Thank You very much

The pictures are totally inaccurate. The place may have looked like that once upon a time, but not on our stay this last December. I believe the property changed ownership and the new owners converted it from a hotel to an Airbnb. The worst problem was the mold issue. I traveled w/ a large party and almost everyone got sick from the mold smell. I slept in one of the lower rooms. While the room looked fine at first glance, I discovered mold on the other side of the curtains. One of the ceiling lights wasn't working, nor was the TV. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, and we were only given one towel each. On top of that there were some questionable stains on the bed sheets. The kitchen area was not well stocked. There were two kitchen faucets but only one worked. The microwave started sparking when we used it. I could go no but I believe the point is clear.

We stayed here right before Christmas and loved the beauty and vibe. It is off the main road, but still close to town. We loved the dirt road leading up to the hotel, surrounded by quiet and lush greenery. The rooms are lovely, and the pool and hot tub are a great ammenity. William, the manager, is knowledgeable and cheerful in attending to anything that you need. We loved staying at this hotel and recommend it highly

I had the pleasure of staying in this new hotel , it was a great experience the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the surroundings I arrived there thru a small plane to enjoy the great natural beauty including the natural pond that was near by
I highly recommend this place
The only thing that's a little uncomfortable is the bathroom, but the views from the windows are picture perfect, my only recommendation is to place coffee makers in the room.

Hope to be there again soon.

We stayed here for three nights during our stay in La Fortuna.
The hotel itself is lovely and modern and the rooms are very clean. On the other hand, the location is not very good. It takes quite a while to drive to the main road and then it's another while to the restaurant area. The gravel road is horrendous (which I know it's not entirely their fault but it impacts on getting to the hotel and the town..it got really annoying after the third night!) This was one of the worst gravel roads on our three week trip in Costa Rica! Also, the food in the hotel itself is not good so you would need to travel to the town. We got a steak for 24 dollars at the hotel and it was like rubber -
very expensive. The service and staff were generally friendly but it could be improved. We were told we could use our credit card, but then on arrival they could only take cash apparently! They also wanted the cash the night we arrived (other hotels did not demand this), the ATM is not close by either..you have to travel that gravel road again lol!
On the upside, The views from our room were very nice and there is a modern pool and garden / forest area. Overall, this is a nice, new hotel, only recently opened so I still think it needs improvement in a few areas!

The volcano gold loft cancelled my reservation in March 2020 due to COVID and stole my money.

They even removed their email so customers can't contact them.

Shame on you for stealing people's money during a pandemic when they are in need.

Don't ever go there..
