This was an awesome place to stay. Our reservation got lost so they put us at Phil's Villa which was amazing! Great views. Short walk from main lodge but worth it. Staff very knowledgable and arranged tours. Christian's lava night tour was amazing!! Saw lots of animals. Ask for him. Only downside is you are far from town but worth...

Compared to other roads we've encountered since our stay at Observatory Lodge, their approach road is great!! We booked a Smithsonian room and loved the space on our large private patio, the view of the volcano was awesome and the surrounding gardens well kept and a haven for birds. A coati regularly wondered by and came right up to were...

This hotel could be amazing if you happened to stay there on one of the 70 days a year when you can see the volcano! (A fact we found out after our 3 nights in the clouds and rain!) The rooms are lovely and bathrooms of a higher standard than most of the other places we stayed (great shower!) When...

We booked a room with a volcano view for our first night, unfortunately the room was booked for the next night so we thought we would be disappointed in the next room- only to find it had a volcano view, too! Stunning scenery, and lots of fun watching the amazing birds from our balcony as well as from the restaurant....

We loved our stay at the Observatory despite the poor road to access and wet weather during our stay. The location & rooms are perfect you can't fault them great comfy bed overlooking the lovely gardens we saw lots of birds and coati from our balcony. The bird watching tour was not the best we saw more on our own...

Beautiful large hotel rooms with absolutely stunning views of the volcano. Also amazing view of lake Arenal and the volcano from the restaurant. The location is great as it is in the park, especially if you're planning to hike Cerro Chato as the path starts inside the hotel premises. The food at the restaurant is quite bland and overpriced but...

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is situated perfectly in the forest with up-close views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Our room had a large porch with a stunning view of the lake. The grounds are meticulously kept, and there is an abundance of nature and wildlife everywhere you look. There is a free...

If I had to say something negative its this: its a long drive back into La Fortuna, if you want to visit hot springs or the Fortuna Waterfall or eat somewhere besides the on-site restaurant, which is fine but not amazing and pretty expensive even by La Fortuna standards (understandably, but still). Everything else is perfect and marvelous. The views...

We stayed at the lodge for three nights and definitely would come back! It's a lovely place, everything is very well organised and clean. The breakfast is very good and the staff very friendly. My family and I have just returned from a wonderful Spring Break visit to Costa Rica, and among the highlights was our stay at the Arenal Observatory Lodge.
