Very nice room and amazing view from room and from patio we saw lots of hummingbirds. Very nice restaurant with good food and very good view of volcano. Also when we were having breakfast on the deck outside of the restaurant and we saw a coati next to the deck.
We really enjoyed this beautiful property near town and close to excursions we had planned. The weather was pretty clear and the volcano views are amazing. Not sure you can get those views elsewhere. The bungalows are separated by foliage for privacy. The staff was all nice and helpful . You can book transport with them to town rather than taxi and it is a flat rate not based on # of people. We had 4 in our party and used the transport twice to go to Fortuna for dinner $12 RT and once to go to hot springs which cost a bit more but was further away. Your location can call them for return trip. We really appreciated the helpfulness of the reception staff. I’d stay here again and recommend. The location was beautiful, well kept beautiful grounds and very friendly staff.
My wife and I stayed here for five nights over the New Years eve holiday 2021/22 We didn't originally intend to stay in this area but all the hotels near our desired destination were full and no long term rentals available. This is our third time to Costa Rica, and as usual we are very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Also, our Spanish is limited but all the staff here speak good to fluent English. The other main positive thing here are the stunning grounds, of the hotel. We have seldom seen such beautiful gardens and landscaping. FYI, their is a circular hiking trail that takes approximately an hour, possibly a little longer to complete. It's not easy, but it's not beyond our abilities, and we are in our fifties and rarely go hiking. The drawbacks: 1)The hotel is about one km up a long partially paved, partially dirt road from the highway. It costs six US$ to get a cab to pick you up and take you into town which is basically a return fare, because the meter is about halfway when you get in, which means to me that it is started when they leave the town, also the hotel has a shuttle that can take you to some locations such as the nearby hot spring resort called Baldi, but be forewarned they charge $10 US each way for a couple minute drive-seems very overpriced to me. We feel that walking into town is quite doable as it is mostly downhill but back is problematic. 2) We never managed to get a hot shower, the water just doesn't get hot, even if you don't even touch the cold tap, and run the supposedly hot tap on full it's lukewarm at best and sometimes too cold for my wife to even get in, to be fair, she likes Hot showers, but warm is the best you will get here and not even that most times. 3) The menu in the restaurant is fairly broad and should suit most tastes but they don't know how to cook, I had to send three meals back and others should have been and that basically equals my entire lifetime of sendbacks-super frustrating. 4) On the upside the breakfast that was included is very good, much better than most free breakfasts, and only just shy of what you get at a North American buffet that you would pay for at a decent hotel. Fresh fruit, made to order omelettes etc. 5) Also a pleasant surprise is that you can get the same menu at the bar as the restaurant and eat al fresco 6) The pool is icy, and the "hot" tub is more like the temperature that the pool should be-guessing low to mid 80s fahrenheit-but it is therefore nice for lounging. 7) The rooms are nice bungalow/cabins, with decent not great beds and bedding, I can never understand how a hotel would only provide two bath towels per day to a couple, every woman wants a second towel for her hair. Worse, the maid feels that goofy animal figures made out of towels is necessary, but she uses some of your two allotted towels, so there is thus only one in the bathroom. The A/C works excellently but has a giant white numeral display on it, telling you what is set at, unfortunately it is bright enough to guide a ship across the Atlantic, making it impossible to have a dark sleeping facility. We would stay here again but unlikely to, and we would recommend it to friends but we would tell them what to expect first. Also, be aware that it is constantly cloudy/raining and the hotel grounds are very steep in some places, they will drive you to your room in an electric golfcart and back to the lobby area if the walk is too steep for you…
Very nice and spacious bungalows. Beautiful park, there is a swimming pool, bungalow was very clean. There is a bidet in the toilet!!!! Even it was a heavy rain during our stay we had a great time there. Staff cares very much abt sanitary rules. Always with masks. Staff was very nice and helpful.
This is a beautiful property - A-1 all the way! From the inviting lobby as you check in to the gorgeous private rooms to the delicious included breakfast! I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful each staff member was. We felt at home from the minute we arrived until our departure!
