Beautiful grounds, friendly service and wonderful room with volcano view. We did the short hike on the property and saw howler monkeys, Toucans and frogs. The on site breakfast had many choices and we had delicious dinner there. Close to La Fortuna and many tours are nearby.

I stayed here for a couples trip and we loved it! Very quiet and peaceful. The rooms and restaurants were clean. Our deluxe bungalow was very private. The property grounds were so lush and well-kept with great views of the volcano. There are howler monkeys that are on the property that you can see and hear, especially in the pool area. There are also many bird species and iguanas. We made good friends with the staff and the buffet breakfast has plenty of options. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

First time at this hotel and it did not disappoint! The drive to the hotel from the main road did take a bit to get to but i appreciated how secluded it was. Beautiful hotel grounds and bungalows. The bungalows were cute and private. We celebrated our anniversary and hotel staff went out of their way to leave us a special detail in our room. Roberto at the front desk was very kind, professional, and helpful. We would definitely return!

Not the warmest of check ins had to request help with bags and no welcoming drink. Rooms lovely and we had a great view. Bar staff very friendly, restaurant staff less so but efficient. Very good food - large portions easily feed two!

A really special and unique stay at lomas. You couldn’t get any closer to the beautiful Arenal volcano. The rooms are in keeping with the surroundings and each lodge offers a breathtaking view at the back. The food is very good if you chose to eat in also.

This hotel really is stunning. The whole setting is probably the best hotel setting I’ve ever seen. The gardens are so full and lush due to the downpours but they are groomed to perfection. Reception is impressive and welcoming and the bar area is sat in lush gardens near the beautiful pool. Our lodge 505 was surrounded by the most incredible fauna which provided us with wildlife to sit and enjoy. The rooms are adequately decorated and I think had we of not been a triple with our daughter we would of enjoyed the deluxe rooms. The patio was a treat to sit and watch the amazing birds and to listen to the forest sounds. The little nature trail is really good and I’m sure with a trained eye teeming with wildlife. We weren’t lucky with the weather as it poured constantly but it was very warm so it didn’t worry us. We loved Fortuna and after visiting 5 places in Costa Rica Arenal is our favourite by far. It’s so lush and green and beautiful and there’s so much to do you can do it all here in one place. The restaurant is in a stunning glass building which gives full views of the nature reserve and the food was very good. The breakfasts were buffet with hot food options and amazing coffee (of course). We would love to return to this hotel again and hopefully get to use the pool next time. …

Beautiful venue and friendly and helpful staff, but a few things to be aware of that impacted our stay... i) We had never visited the rain forest before and naively didn't realize quite how wet it is almost all the time. We expected heavy showers but it rained on and off the whole time... and we're here during the dry season. We were glad we were only staying for 3 nights as it would have got depressing pretty quickly. Good base for activities but not somewhere to come to relax. ii) There is nowhere to hang clothes to dry in your rooms. Considering most times we stepped outside we got soaked through, it would have been very helpful to have hooks in the rooms and the veranda to help things dry. They will launder clothes for you, but this seems a bit high maintenance. So pack lots of fast drying layers as it's unlikely you'll be able to wear clothes multiple times. Even out high end rain gear never properly dried out during our whole stay. iii) we didn't have a hot shower during our stay. The first person got a warm shower then the rest of the family had to have cold showers. It isn't that hot here so that is a little disappointing. You start to miss some basic home comforts. iv) There isn't much to do for families once you're back from activities / tours. There is a cold pool, but no sports areas or games rooms for children to burn off energy. Where it was so wet we spent more time in our room that we would have liked. First time in Costa Rica, La Fortuna our first stop. This bungalow type hotel is close to down town, but not walkable. The gardens and surrounding Forest were outstanding. Howler monkeys were viewed out our back porch . The cabins were okay, more rustic that I thought they would be in need of some TLC, but clean and roomy. Nice open reception area, beautiful pool area with a view of Arenal. Breakfast was buffet style which worked out well when you have an early tour.Dinner was nice and the bar was perfect if not wanting a heavy meal. They also have a hiking path, though we did not see any wildlife, was truly a hike not a stroll down a path be prepared! Staff was friendly and helpful.

A friendly welcome by all staff. The tropical gardens are the most impressive feature of the hotel. You can spend an hour or two watching birds from your balcony. The nature trail is circular and feels like you are right in the forest. The Poole area is a little dated. Buffet style breakfast suits all, lovely inlets made to order. We equally enjoyed cocktails in the bar area. There is plenty to do around Arenal, probably gets v crowded in high season

Hotel with bungalows set in beautiful gardens at the base of Arenal volcano. Bungalows have 2 double beds huge shower room and private garden area with balcony to watch the local birds and animals in their natural habitat. Choice of restaurant and bistro/ bar places to eat. Food very good with large portions , wide variety of foods at breakfast. All staff very friendly and helpful
