This place was wonderful!! Miguel is so friendly and helpful and Marya as well. The breakfast offered is delicious. Not too far from town to the restaurants and stores. (about 10-15 minute walk). About a 45 minute walk to the waterfall, and very close shuttle ride to the volcano and hanging bridges. The rooms are private and comfortable.

The husband and wife that run this ecolodge are very hospitable and friendly. Marya makes a delicious breakfast and keeps the rooms spotless. The location is perfect for doing all sorts of activities in the area and the price can't be beat. We checked out just this morning and headed to another area where our hotel is the exact same... This is not the place to stay if you want luxury, but it's very clean and nice. Miguel and Marya make it exceptional. A little outside of town, so need a car to do things, for meals, or hot springs. Breakfast is available at the lodge, and for only $4! Marya serves up breakfast fast, and it's delicious as well... More

Great value especially if you want a private room in Fortuna. Miguel and his wife are incredibly sweet. Clean rooms, hot water, close to the Fortuna waterfall and Cerro Chato volcano hike, so you can walk there instead of cabs. Recommend having a car though, the office closes around 7pm and restaurants nearby are few/also close early, so you have... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean. The grounds of the hotel are great as well. Although it is a little distance from the centre of La Fortuna it doesn't take too long to walk in (about 30/40mins) and it's about the same to... More

Cerro Chato is conveniently located with great views of the Arenal Volcano and Cerro Chato. Miguel was very informative and amusing. Maria's breakfasts were wonderful. We will return and are recommending Cerro Chato to our friends and family who are also traveling to Costa Rica.

Very friendly English speaking owners and staff. The cabins all built by the owner Miguel are very clean and comfortable. Wake each morning looking at Arenal Volcano. Great location, close to everything. Within hiking distance of the park and the waterfall. Great breakfast made every morning by his lovely wife Carmen. Don't miss it!

This Eco Lodge was fantastic! Miguel was an amazingly friendly and smart man. He was a huge help with deciding what to do not only around La Fortuna, but also at Cano Negro. He gave us tips on what hot springs were the best, what time was the best to go, how the roads and traffic would be, where are... More

Miguel and his family were wonderful hosts. Our room was fantastic - a decent sized lodge room with fans and a clean bathroom. The open air feel was great - falling asleep to crickets and waking up to birds. Each room is spread out enough so you have a lot of privacy. Breakfast was delicious. Miguel can arrange whatever activities... More

This was the first place we stayed upon arriving in Costa Rica. We stayed for three days and it was very hard to leave. Nestled in the middle of the forest allowed for a remote feel while being minutes away from La Fortuna. Miguel and his family went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located at the base of the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica (2.5 kms. from La Fortuna, on the road to Catarata Rio's Fortuna and only 15minutes by car from Tabacon's Hot Springs) with a spectacular view of the southeast side of the volcano, we have the advantage of being at a slightly higher altitude than La Fortuna, thus cooler. Also, we are off the main road enough to avoid the sound of grinding gears that are audible from almost all other hotels. The rooms are very spacious (32m2) with 1 double and 1 single bed, a large private bath with hot water, screened windows, ceiling fans, verandas with table and chairs, and landscaped grounds abundant with tropical flowers and birds. Full breakfast, available lunches, horse rental, laundry, internet service and secure parking lot. ... more   less
