I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great experience for a low price. The rooms are perfectly clean and ours had beautiful paintings of the quetzal and the Arenal volcano that added to the ambience of the place. We took a dip in the refreshing swimming pool (make sure to walk over there at night to see...

We arrived in La Fortuna at the bus stop a few hours ahead of when our check in time was. We were tired and it was hot so we decided to take a cab up to the hostel to hope to check in. Miguel walked out and immediately greeted us and checked us in. He was so informative with activities...

This bungalow is clean, Eco-friendly, grounds beautifully kept, has free parking and wifi, friendly staff, soap and towels provided, shelves to put your belongings. You can enjoy the songs of the cicada all day long. Volcán Arenal, hot springs and the green lagoon are nearby. Roads are slightly bumpy to get there, but that's nothing compared to other paces we...

We really had a nice time at Cherro Chato Eco Lodge! It's located near the Waterfall trail and the Cerro Chato Trail, which was very helpful for us. Miguel told us stories about his life near the Arenal Volcano and was always a helping hand. We really liked staying in our cosy little bungalow!

We liked this place to stay, the room was ok, the mattress was good. The rain on the roof can be loud so maybe take ear plugs when you're a light sleeper. The host was friendly and funny. Though when booking a tour not all info was correct and he made a mistake in calculating the cost in colones, but...

We stayed here for a few nights in February and just loved it. The Eco lodges were very nice, clean and well kept. The owner Miguel was super helpful about the surrounding area and approachable for questions. Recommend this place for anyone staying in the Arenal area

This place was wonderful!! Miguel is so friendly and helpful and Marya as well. The breakfast offered is delicious. Not too far from town to the restaurants and stores. (about 10-15 minute walk). About a 45 minute walk to the waterfall, and very close shuttle ride to the volcano and hanging bridges. The rooms are private and comfortable.

The husband and wife that run this ecolodge are very hospitable and friendly. Marya makes a delicious breakfast and keeps the rooms spotless. The location is perfect for doing all sorts of activities in the area and the price can't be beat. We checked out just this morning and headed to another area where our hotel is the exact same...

This is not the place to stay if you want luxury, but it's very clean and nice. Miguel and Marya make it exceptional. A little outside of town, so need a car to do things, for meals, or hot springs. Breakfast is available at the lodge, and for only $4! Marya serves up breakfast fast, and it's delicious as well...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located at the base of the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica (2.5 kms. from La Fortuna, on the road to Catarata Rio's Fortuna and only 15minutes by car from Tabacon's Hot Springs) with a spectacular view of the southeast side of the volcano, we have the advantage of being at a slightly higher altitude than La Fortuna, thus cooler. Also, we are off the main road enough to avoid the sound of grinding gears that are audible from almost all other hotels. The rooms are very spacious (32m2) with 1 double and 1 single bed, a large private bath with hot water, screened windows, ceiling fans, verandas with table and chairs, and landscaped grounds abundant with tropical flowers and birds. Full breakfast, available lunches, horse rental, laundry, internet service and secure parking lot. ... more   less
