From the moment we buzzed in to the gardens we were treated like family. The gardens were filled with lovely birds of all colours. The hotel is close to all the shops and attractions ie the Arenal waterfall, the hot springs (eco thermales, was awesome), and my new favourite place of all Bogarin sloth trails. Giovanni Bogarin had us seeing sloths in under 5 minutes (Check this out on Trip advisor) The restaurants close by are all within walking distance and were inexpensive yet delicious. I highly recommend Hotel Roca Negra as well just to meet Elizabeth! She is my new sister! Rooms are comfortable and clean, as are the communal spaces around the pool and kitchen area. We had our laundry done as well, and after being on adventures for more than a week , that was and unexpected pleasure!

This is by far the most peaceful, relaxing, gorgeous and safe place we have stayed at in all of Costa Rica. A great location near food and basic shopping, we felt so at home. Their gardens are next level, especially the secret garden that few guests even make it too. We stayed a week and we could have stayed forever.

Wonderful stay and great price and value. Someone else said this is “no frills” and they can’t be further from the truth. Our bathroom was huge and our patio had comfy rockers, hammock facing the volcano. Great landscaping that includes cocoa trees and plants for hummingbirds. The pool is a good size and is nicer than even the pictures show and the jacuzzi was nice. The reception, pool/jacuzzi, game area (ping pong, fusball, and billiards area is nicely designed and comfortable- great landscaping and boho relax feel. It was perfect. There’s also a kitchen area and hotel provided complementary coffee and eggs from their chickens. It’s in a great location being between the center and many of the tourist attractions, super short walk to restaurants and shops. As others have said, Eugenia is super attentive and helpful. There is so much to do here during your down time between activities. My kids loved it so much & me too! If you are on a budget and want some bang for your buck stay here.

This was a perfect place to stay. The last bungalow 9 has a beautiful view of the Volcano from the porch including comfortable rocking chairs. . The garden is beautiful and there is a pathway to enjoy the walk and the different birds and much more. This quaint hotel has no frills but is very clean and provides everything you need.

My kids (13 and 10) stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay. I purposely chose this for the cabin/rainforest feel and pool for my youngest, along with the chickens roaming the property. We did get to see a few other small creatures while here. Eugenia (owner) is so kind and welcoming. The communal kitchen was a lovely spot to make coffee and enjoy the fresh eggs she leaves for use in the morning. We had a couple days of really strong rain and loved the sound of it on the roof (metal). The location is nice- within walking distance to several restaurants, laundry, and a market. While there are tv's in the room, there is not Netflix or similar service. We did use the great wifi for streaming on our laptop. There is hot water for the showers, which is nice. If I would add anything it would be that there aren't blankets, only a top sheet on the bed. I know, it's CR! But the weight of having even a thin blanket, not the warmth of having one would be nice. Do know that a small bit of sound carries from room to room- but I think that's mostly from bathroom windows that are open for ventalation. Other than that, this is a really great place to stay.
