My boyfriend, our dog and I went a couple of weeks ago. Everything was great but I would like to highlight the staff customer service. They were friendly and very polite. Our stay started with a great smile thanks to Rosmer’s great service during our breakfast. He was very kind with us. This is our second visit and definitely there will be more!

We always travel with only a plane flight and car rental but no hotel reservations. We have done this in 60 countries. We arrived late into La Fortuna and started looking on the internet for a hotel. There were several on the same road for $350-$750 a night! We pulled into the Paradise Mountain Hotel for $90 a night. We had our own large casita, king bed, huge bathroom, patio with private hot tub, breakfast, on and on. We even had the golf cart driver take us on a night walk to the frog pond where he showed us five different species. We liked it so much we decided to stay two nights. We had dinner at their restaurant which was great and the breakfast was wonderful too. A full breakfast, not grab-and-go. We did go to the pool but the heater was not working that night. We soaked in the hot tub on our patio for two nights. So relaxing! We highly recommend this hotel and the beautiful setting. You can not go wrong staying here. All of the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful.

Beautiful, private villas with amazing views of the volcano! Beautiful pool with great wet bar that includes food service as well as drinks & lots of fun/music. Restaurant was clean, service was great, food was amazing. Grounds were immaculate with beautiful ornamental plants. Can't say enough about this place, highly recommend!

I felt like I as in Fantasy Island as soon as we pulled up to the hotel. This property is directly next door to Nayara Springs resort, though at a much more affordable price point. The pools are fed by the nearby springs, and there is a swim up bar with a wonderful menu of cocktails and a generous happy hour every day. The bartender was an artist and took pride in making each drink in beautiful detail. Our room was quite large with a queen bed and a king bed and could have easily fit an additional rollaway bed to accommodate a family of five or six. This property would be equally good for families as well as couples. The patios are private, surrounded by vegetation and all have some type of water feature - hot tub or small pool on the patio from what I could see. Nature is abundant, and walking the property rewards you with hummingbird and other tropical bird sightings. Also the occasional sloth or monkey sighting (earlier mornings). The leaf cutter ants that traverse the forest and the grounds are fascinating to observe. Nature serenades you day and night, and it can be pleasant to leave your patio door cracked open to allow the cool evening air to filter in so you can better hear the sounds. The rain makes a relaxing timber on the bathroom skylight that lulls you into a deep sleep perfect to slow down and let the sound soothe you. It was raining for dinner, and the front desk had the club car come and pick us up at our door with the umbrella and he did this all evening long so that guests did not have to get soaked walking to dinner. I have read a couple of reviews here that stated the food was only so-so or not that great. For that reason, I almost shied away from this property. I'm so glad that I gave greater weight to the many positive reviews, because for our two days, everything we had from their kitchen as fantastic. The breakfast was made to order, the fruit was so fresh it was like I was tasting pineapple for the first time; like all other fruit I've eaten paled in comparison. My over-medium egg was more of an over-easy, so I asked them to cook it a little longer, which they did without complaint and it was perfect. This was served with a small slice of plantain cooked in a delicious sauce along with the typical Gallo Pinto (black beans and rice). I had the traditional tortilla soup and a chilled quinoa salad for dinner, and my nephew had a steak served with a spicy chimichurri sauce; all sourced locally and all delicious. The staff in the office, housekeeping, pool bar, and the restaurant and the groundskeepers we came in contact with were all genuinely friendly and interested in making sure we had a great stay. We got to know Rosmer in the restaurant over our dinner and breakfasts. He took great care of us, and I feel like he would remember us and make us feel like welcomed old friends when we come back again. We cannot say enough about what a great experience we had here. We only wish we had a few more nights here before heading back in to San Jose for some appointments. I will definitely come back here again and highly recommend Mountain Paradise for wonderful staff, location, value, views, food, and overall experience.
