We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Everything was great. Danielle and Joseph at the front desk are very friendly. Our room (#6) has a direct view of the volcano and we loved it. It's only 5 minutes walk to the famous Rio Celeste waterfall. The hotel is only 8 minutes drive to downtown La Fortuna where you'll have plenty dining options. A night tour was also included in the room rate and we saw so many frogs. The hotel doesn't have hot springs but the room rate is considerably lower compared to those hotels that do have hot springs. I'd say it saves money to stay at a medium priced hotel like Tifakara and buy a day pass at one of the hot springs hotels.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel! We enjoyed all the amenities and services the hotel had to offer. The service from the hotel staff was unmatched — we had complimentary drinks at check in, quick and delicious room service, and the staff even offered to take us on a night walk throughout the property to see the wildlife. While we did not get the chance to do the night walk, we did walk their nature trail on our own during the day and enjoyed seeing all the plants and animals. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast as well as the bar service. The bartender even made us custom drinks that weren’t offered on the menu. Although it was raining most of the time we were there, we still took advantage of the jacuzzi and took a dive into the pool. We really loved being walking distance to la Fortuna waterfall. As far as the room goes, the cold AC, comfy bed and — last but not least, the open air shower were the best part. The sound of birds, rain and nature pouring in at night was incredibly relaxing. I wish I could take this little piece of heaven back home with us!…
Everything was amazing. Free breakfast. Although I got the basic room, it had a great walk in shower! I went into the jacuzzi every day. Every single one of the staff members there were friendly and accommodating. They were very organized when in regard to the activities booked through them as well as with the transportation to and from SJO. I wish I could have stayed longer. Pura Vida.
We stayed in the bungalows, which are small, but well appointed and have a/c. The shower is outside and we loved showering with the trees and birds above us. The resort has hiking trails and offers a night tour on property. The pool and hot tubs are beautiful. A gorgeous breakfast menu is included and there are amazing coffee machines that are complimentary all day long. This was a hit with our group! Staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant menu could use better vegetarian options. Close enough to other restaurants to eat dinners/lunches off property in La Fortuna. Highly recommend it!
This place was a little gem !! The rooms are separate little cabins and very clean. It’s situated in the middle of a nursing oasis - so if you like the sounds of the rainforest, this is the place to be. Joseph and Derek were amazing! They were so friendly and hospitable. The food was very good, beds were comfy, easy location….highly recommend Tifakara!! I will be back in the future!!
Loved out experience here. The staff were amazing and so kind. There is AMAZING breakfast and food available. The night tour they give allowed us to see so many cool frogs too! Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the views. Overall we would come back and loved this location. It was just a few minutes from the la fortuna waterfall!
Tifakara was amazing! The staff was incredibly accommodating, flexible, and easy to communicate with. The resort was beautiful, clean, and had great views. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. The service was amazing. Our favorite part was the pool and the free breakfast service in the mornings. We also loved the Night Walks offered at the resort where we toured the frog sanctuary. The Front Desk Staff did an amazing job helping organize excursions and transportation for us as well. BIG thank you to Daniela for all her amazing help!
We loved our stay at Tifakara and were very pleased with the service, staff, breakfasts, abundance of birds & frogs & trees, comfortable / spacious rooms with air conditioning, and the feeling of being tucked away in a rainforest oasis. Highly recommend! It's hidden away but still just a 10 minute drive from downtown Fortuna where there are plenty of tours, restaurants and shops for tourists.
This hotel made my trip! There is a restaurant, bar, bird sanctuary and frog tour on site. Breakfast was included as well as coffee, hot chocolate, water and tea. The hotel staff were amazing! Emphasis on Derek and Josue!!! They truly made me and my friend feel like royalty! I will be booking this hotel every time I visit! Close to tours of Arenal volcano and souvenir shops. You will not be disappointed.
Tifakara is amazing. We stayed in one of their tropical forest bungalows and it was beautiful. The sounds of nature surround you and you really feel a part of it all. Keep in mind, you’re literally in the jungle, so some tiny critters are present at times, but they did a fantastic job of ensuring the place is spotless every day. We had dinner at their restaurant the first night we arrived, and it was phenomenal. Steak and ceviche. Doesn’t get much better than that! The included breakfast was also 10/10. So many options to pick from. Salmon bagel was amazing, montecristo sandwich was delicious and the traditional Costa-Rican breakfast was second to none. Mouth is watering just writing about it! Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the frog tour, but we did happen to see some beautiful (and poisonous) frogs and Joseph was able to explain to us what they were etc. There were some amazing birds that we saw, from toucans to humming birds and everything in between. The La Fortuna waterfall is a 5 minute trek down the road, and I must say, it was one of the highlights of our stay there. There are also amazing views of the Arenal Volcano, definitely better in clearer days, but we could see it from our outdoor shower and it was breathtaking. The grounds are beautifully kept, with gorgeous flowers and unique plants surrounding the area. A true oasis. Thanks to Joseph, Mauricio and Steven for making us feel like family! It was a great place to kick off our first trip to Costa Rica. We will miss it here!…
