My family and I stayed at Casa Luna over the New Year holiday. The hotel is nice and the grounds are beautifully manicured.
The pool area is nice and they have a pool bar where you can order drinks and food. Melvin, the bartender, was...More
Nice property - grounds are well kept and on site restaurant is good. Staff is accommodating. Internet is free but a little week in some rooms (good in lobby). The rain forest trail on the back of the property is a nice 15 minute walk....More
We stayed two nights and it was an excellent experience. The included breakfast buffet is simply excellent. We ate out in the better reviewed restaurants in La Fortuna and nothing was even close to the Casa Luna grill. Overall, La Fortuna is a sad little...More

Casa Luna offers various tours that you can book right there at the hotel. Some are popular so you may want to book in advance. Tours come with guide and transportation to/from hotel. We had a rental car so we did not do tours thru the hotel as we booked directly with places. There is so much to do in the area, it depends on what your cup of tea is. We visited La Fortuna waterfalls and Mistico Hanging Bridges, both worth seeing. However, if you're into adventure, recommend canyoning in the area, where you rappel down along and into small waterfalls. Very fun, easy to do. We actually did the Spider Monkey Canyoning thru Mistico Hanging Bridges Park. Pura Vida!

The first part of the road from Casa Luna Hotel, La Fortuna, Costa Rica to Montverde, Costa Rica is in fairly good condition up to the city called Tilaran which is about halfway in terms of time between Fortuna and Montverde. After Tilaran the road is drivable but very rocky and bad and one could only drive about 25-30 miles per hour. If you are renting a car, get an SUV with a high clearance. There are signs that if followed would take you to Montverde. But one has to pay close attention to these signs because it's not exactly like the markings in the United States. Again like I said earlier, it's drivable but very bad. I am going back again in April of this year. I enjoyed it so much last year and I am sure you will too.
