Our surroundings:El Guarco Hotel & Restaurant is located in Cartago, Costa Rica. It is the only hotel in the province that is adressing mainly towards a corporative public. We are located very close to a lot of important commercial spots, such as Mega Super (supermarket, 500m. away), Paseo Metropoli Mall (2 km. away), Cartago Downtown (which is only 5 km. away) and, finally, only 47 km. separate us from the Juan Santamaría Airport.We offer the services of accommodation, food, transportation, catering service, national & international tours and assembly rooms, that provide the latest technology, which is ideal for meetings, trainings, weddings, baby showers and birthday celebrations, among others. Clean room with everything working. Internet was very fast. The internet connection had brief hiccups but when it ran 99% of the time it was blazing fast. I downloaded a season of Netflix in minutes. Staff were friendly, breakfast was generous, water was hot, AC was cold. Parking was very secure in a locked courtyard visible from the rooms. This is a basic motel, nothing fancy, but met all of our needs.

The El Guarco remains Cartago's best hotel. The food is delicious, the rooms spacious and spotless, and the people kind, considerate, and welcoming. I come every year to visit family in Cartago, and the El Guarco has never disappointed. Thank you once again for a great stay and for your warm, welcoming service.

Clean, quiet and safe. We picked the Junior Suite. But others are comfortable as well. Nice staff. Breakfast included is pretty acceptable. We always picked the Typical one. Bar is way too small. Just to high uncomfortable chairs. But there is a very nice terrace under roof. I've been many times and plan to keep on going. Price is very fair to rooms. Keep on mind it is a small hotel, don't expect a 5 star hotel, even the junior suite is lovely. Rooms have balconies or floor to ceiling windows

I had passed by El Guarco many times before staying there recently. This was my loss. The staff is very capable and attentive. Parking is easy and secure. The room was fine--very pleasant. We greatly enjoyed the bar-dining room--very elegant. I will stay at El Guarco again in the near future!

This is the first hotel I stayed on landing in Costa Rica enroute to San Gerardo de Dota. I chose this hotel since it was 45 mins to 1 hour from the airport where i could rest overnight and continue my travel to my next destination The hotel is centrally located and with good rooms and good breakfast I was all ready for my Costa Rican birding trip. The hotel also arranged for transport to my next lodge.

Check in and check out was easy, good parking with security and the breakfast was excellent. The room was big enough but there was no fridge nor safe and the bed was quite hard and moved around on the tile floor too much. The staff were all very friendly and the small issues could be sorted very easily. Try to avoid the ground floor rooms as people play with their dogs outside your door.

For people that are heading to areas like San Isidro del General or all the way to Paso Canoas is a perfect place to stay. If you are coming down from Cerro de la Muerte...and need a place to stay...and the next day driving to SJO or San Jose...is a perfect palce. Nice rooms...quite...

We needed a place for one night unexpectedly & found El Guarco on Trip Advisor. Encountered a friendly staff, very accommodating, comfortable bed in our room and nice decor. The adjustable lighting was a nice touch. Delicious full buffet breakfast included topped off our very nice stay

Needing to avoid driving at night to our home four hours away we elected to stay in the cartago area where we had some business. Nice place in an industrial area, secure, pleasant, good restaurant, clean comfortable beds and rooms and above all : Great service: Great Breakfast buffet. The free breakfast buffet is easily worth ten dollars per person. If I need to stay in this area again, no question where I would stay. This is the place.
