last March I traveled around Costa Rica and my last stop was a visit to the volcano. I had the pleasure of staying at the Guaynabo Lodge which was the icing on the cake. I felt like I was sleeping in the clouds. The view and the amentias were fabulous. But the host and hostess made you feel right at...

We stayed two nights at the Guayabo Inn, booked with a small group tour. The ambience is a country bed and breakfast with alpine charm. Each room is different, and all are comfortable and cozy. It is a splendid location, on the mountainside below the Turrialba volcano (which showed some steam while we were there), with a beautiful view down...

Wonderfull place with really nice people and a good view to the Turrialba volcano. The volcano is very peaceful at the moment and shouldn't be a reason to avoid this interesting and unique region of Costa Rica. We had a very nice and clean room with view to the valley. The food at the lodge was also very good. Special...

This is a wonderful scape-place. I live in San Jose, a bit more than 1 and a half hours from here, and i will bring all of my turisting friends here in a heartbeat. The road to get here is breathtaking. The lodge is location is easy to access but far away enough to sleep sorrounded by crickets instead of...

I stayed two nights at Guayabo Lodge and I had a great time. The Lodge is located up in the mountains, we had great weather and were able to see to smoking Turrialba from our balcony: what a luxus! The brekfast is good, I realy enjoyed the Gallo Pinto with scrambled egg and the homemade bread. In general the food...

The setting is very quiet far from population centres with great views over the landscape. The lodging consists of a number of villas with a couple of rooms in each. They are very well built, rooms are fairly large with big beds. You can stroll around the area and watch the vegetation and birds. Meals were fine but nothing extra....

Lovely hotel in a superb location on the lower slopes of the active Turrialba volcano. Beautiful views of the valley below and the (currently) often smoking volcano above. Set in immaculate flower filled tropical gardens which attract lots of birds. The interior is Swiss lodge style, with pretty rooms and various comfortable sitting areas which give it a relaxed feel....

This place is very quaint, almost seems like a place in the Alps. Everything seems to be done well, except there is no heat in the rooms and it is cold at this altitude, especially after dark. The breakfast is very good as is dinner. The owner, Pedro, could not be nicer. All of the staff are very friendly and...

We enjoyed our stay quite a bit. The hosts are very nice and hospitable. Even though there was a lot of rain, the birds at the feeders were wonderful. Hotel is at a nice mid-elevation for birding. Rosana, the host, mapped a very successful birding route for us that led to seeing many target birds. Lunch at Mirador Sitio Angostora...
