I would like to start by qualifying the superlatives laid down here, by saying that I am a an international tour leader who visits Costa Rica, and other countries, regularly during the course of my job as a professional bird guide. I live in Ecuador but travel all over the world each year in the pursuit of birds. This was...

Since you are an international tour leader who visits Costa Rica and other countries, regularly as a professional bird guide, this was for me by far the best review I have had the honor to receive for Rancho Naturalista. Your picturesque way of explaining about Rancho brings vivid detail as clear as a picture to my mind. The scenic mountains,...

Spent a few days here with a birding group - we walked the trails, found awesome birds, and were treated to hummingbirds and birds at the feeders during breakfast and lunch! The rooms are lovely, beds comfy, and the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating. Hope to return some day!

Stayed here for 2 nights, but wish it had been 2 weeks! From the moment we arrived, Lisa made us feel at home. Harry, our guide for the next 2 days, helped us with our bags. We were in room 1, upstairs with a huge balcony overlooking the hummingbird feeder action. The room itself was HUGE and well equipped! The...

This is a great place to enjoy birding and hiking in the rain forest. My room (#10), which is separate from the main building, was quiet--although I know that some of the rooms in the main building, adjacent to the terrace, can be less so. The food was stellar: Lots of fresh produce, and terrific salads! [I was craving greens...

is what awaits you here. The drive up to this lovely old inn is beautiful, the surrounding countryside is breaktaking, and you do feel on top of the world. The inn itself is one of the few old world type inns in Costa Rica, lovely feel, calm, relaxing and well maintained. The upstairs deck is excellent for bird/hummingbird viewing, and...

It is hard to evaluate this place but I want to be honest. I am here with a group of photographers for a Hummingbird workshop using multi-flash. Besides the Hummers, there are all kinds of other birds to see. Based on that, I would have given 5 dots. But, I am not too happy with my room( #2). At first,...
