First the best thing here is to get the ranger take you to top of Volcano if it's open. Regarding the lodge : I would have given them a better rating if it was not for confusing billing practices. I was quoted $90US for dinner and breakfast but when billed it added up to $109 almost on my card. When...

I tried to find a place where my wife and I could spend a romantic and peaceful weekend. And I did! Volcan Turrialba Lodge was a quiet and magical place, sorrounded by the beauty of one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica and all the nature and green gave this place a peaceful atmosphere. The food was excellent!...

What a change from the bustle of San Jose. After the heat of low lands this was a welcome relief. 9000 feet and 65 degrees. Just so laid back. A working farm. The food was fresh grown on their property or in the area. They have wood burning stoves in the rooms. The view of the volcano was awesome.

I was intrigued by the possibility of staying in a mountain lodge at some 9,000 feet near the peak of a volcano in Costa Rica and Volcan Turrialba Lodge turned out to be a great place to experience it. I made it my first stop in the Costa Rica and left San Jose for Turrialba in my trusty Terios at...

My wife and myself booked two days with the intention of visiting the zone. While driving, we realized that you need 45 min - 1 h from the main street on a 4-wheel car - otherwise you risk getting stuck. Upon arrival, we asked to stay just 1 night as it is clear that you cannot use this place as...

We stumbled across this charming lodge and farm on our journey to see volcan turrialba. We were so lucky to meet the actual owner who had just arrived from san jose. His hospitality during the single hour we spent there was marvellous..he treated us to some queso made on their own dairy farm and was so helpful and informative. The...

Our stay at the lodge was wonderful and the service attentive. The rooms were clean and cozy and the beds were piled with warm blankets. The meals were excellent and tasty and were a great way to try some authentic Costa Rican food. We took a three hour tour (walking) along the base the of the Irazu and Turrialba volcanoes...

My family and I will never forget our stay at Volcán Turrialba Lodge. Just getting to the lodge was an adventure, driving up into the mountains and finally arriving at the quaint lodge, where we were received warmly by the staff. The antique fire wood stoves in the rooms are beautiful and quite necessary as the night got colder. There...

This hotel is quaint and beautiful. Breathtaking views of the volcano on a clear day. Rooms are well equipped, the wooden stove is a great little added benefit to complete the whole "finca" feeling (farm). Food is simple yet carefully prepared and served wtih the upmost attention to detail. The staff is nice and very knowledgeable. So basically I am...

Stayed for one night on way back to San Jose from Caribbean Coast. Wanted off the neaten path and boy did we get it. Arrived in the dark (bad idea) and they had no record of our reservation. That was the only bump - we were only guests that night. Fausto the factotum (cook, wrangler, server etc) took fine care...
