Do yourself a favor and do not visit this hotel! We chose this hotel as it is perfectly situated right beneath the entrance to the barra honda national park. But when we arrived and asked for a room, the answer of the hotel staff was a simple "hoy no". The hotel was absolutely empty, but somehow the owners of this... More

This hotel is one in a million. The experience is like no other. It is set just 10 minutes walk from the Barra Honda national park entrance and situated in the middle of the forest itself. Initially the hotel felt really spooky. No other guests, but the hotel and adjoining restaurant seemed prepared to take many. No internet, no phone... More

Stayed here for one night before a visit to Barra Honda. Cost 16.000 Colon for one night, and the room was filled with bugs. No hot water and breakfast was a sad plate of Gallo Pinto. Seemed like it had been off season for years. Owners looked tired and like they didn't want us there at all. They don't accept... More

We loved staying at this place! As the owner said, it is the only hotel in the middle of a national park. His family owned the whole area of the national park and he fought to keep one area. Owner was super nice and gave us a tour of his property. He even offered to buy us some things when... More

I stayed only one night to see what is a family hotel. Bad experience, wild dogs bark at night, spiders in the room, a scorpio but not dangerous apperently and a little lizard on the wall. The toilet bowl, hummm, not very clean, the garbage not emptied and forget a clean bed. Very el cheapo!

I gave this property five stars because I used to live in CR and know that "cabina" here means extremely basic accommodations compared to what most Americans are used to. No hot water, no fancy decor, small, cement floors, a fan, a place to sleep, essentially. And these are just that. What makes this place special is the location, the... More

Last months we visited Costa Rica. It was our second trip, so we looked for less known palces to visit and to discover. As we passed by Nicoya, we have heard about Barra Honda National Park. So we decided to visit it. It took as a good rate to find how to get there without paying an expensive taxi. Finally... More
