Like another review its almost a shame to let the " cat out of the bag " about this place so you owe me a couple waves while your out on this slice of beach literally a stones throw from The Pipe House. You will be amazed at the evening walks to the handful of nearby restarants when the moon is out and your the only one in that space and time that is the magic of south Playa Grande. BUT ....... Your sandwiched between Tamarindo and the main of Playa Grande so if you want action its all there. Most that Ive seen stay here rent a car and I recommend it if you want to roam. If not like me you can walk to restaurant's and a small market not problem or catch the 8-5 (roughly lol) river boats over to Tamarindo. Its a place I, and you will, pray to your God never changes. As far as the Pipe House its the best mix of everything you could want in a place . Ohhhh and its kept super clean !! The owner and staff are awesome and they will take care of you.…
Having found this "quirky" hotel on the internet t was either going to be terrible or amazing and luckily it turned out to be one of the best places we have ever stayed in. What made it so good was it's honesty. If you want hot and cold running Staff doing everything for you, please don't go. This is the place where you feel like a member of the family who can come and go as you please. Highlight for me was to lay on the beach in the evening and look up at the myriad of stars
We had one night in the pipe, and absolutely loved it. The spot is quiet and very close to the beach. We rented surfboards (10$) and went to a local restaurant nearby. Also enjoyed the gym, which has an inspirational vibe. If you are in Tamarindo, it’s worth a stay! We took the taxi boat from Tamarindo to playa Grande (2$ per person). Felipe is the greatest host!
This place is very unique. It's not a full hostel, and it's not a full hotel, it's somewhere in between. There's only 9 pods here, queen sized beds, capsule like. This place is incredibly aesthetic. The pods look beautiful and are so unique to anything or anywhere I've stayed before. This place has an awesome gym with wooden plates and with only 9 beds here, this gym is always open and everytime I worked out I had it to myself. This place is directly on playa grande beach near Tamarindo. It's a 1 minute walk to the beach. The beach is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite beaches in Costa Rica. Sunsets here are amazing. The surf is absolutely perfect for beginners and intermediates, the waves are not too big and its not too hard to paddle out, the beach is completely sandy bottom. This beach almost feels like a private beach, there are not too many people here. The downsides of this place is if you're a solo single traveler, there are a lot of couples here. Couples, the rooms will be very tight, so do not bring too much luggage. Bathrooms are shared here, that's no problem for me as I have stayed in many hostels before. This place is located in Playa Grande. It is so peaceful and relaxing. But if you want to get to Tamarindo in the nighttime it is a 40 minute cab ride. If you want to get to Tamarindo in the daytime, you walk for 5 minutes down the beach and take a boat across the river for $1.50. There are not too many places closeby here for food, there are two restaurants that are a 5 minute walk, there's no breakfast and pipehouse. So if you do not have a car, it might be difficult for you to get around. Highly recommend renting a car or you may feel "stuck" in Playa Grande. Personally I loved being in Playa Grande. This is a place I would definitely come back to.…
My girlfriend and I spent 6 nights at THE PIPE HOUSE. It's right on the beach and the environment is second to none. The bathrooms are very clean. Each pipe has their own air conditioning and place to keep valuables. The host fellepe was great, he showed us around the town, gave us a reasonably priced surf lesson and we both jumped up on a wave our first time surfing! I cannot say enough about this place, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much fellepe and friends.
This place is awesome truly unique and the owner could not have been more gracious. He got a great thing going for sure. Walk down to the end of the beach, take a boat to tamarind for 5 bucks and catch a wave or grab some grub. Perfectly priced, go to the pizza place or the greatful hotel for dinner!
Pura vida.
Pura Vida my friend 🇨🇷
The concrete pipes were surplus to requirements on a Panama Canal construction project so Felipe decided to convert them into guest house accommodation two minutes amble from one of the finest white sand surfing beaches on Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean coast. The pipes sleep two people but I would recommend going solo. It’s quite a nice feeling having your own pipe! The air con is super efficient, you store your kit under the snug bed, lights and WiFi work, the compound has shared showers and toilets, a communal fully equipped kitchen and dining area, chairs, hammock, tables in the garden, and you can rent surfboards, kayaks, beach umbrellas etc. Felipe who lives on the property (in a converted shipping container)is friendly, helpful, knows the area intimately and can direct you to water taxis that cross the nearby estuary to the resort town of Tamarindo (only a few minutes boat ride), put you in touch with leatherback sea turtle tours, a surfing coach, pretty much anything local. Can’t think of anything wrong with this place. If you want complete solitude you might find the comings and goings in the communal areas a bit busy. Breakfast is not provided but there is a bar/restaurant within easy walking distance.…
