A typical day at Las Tortugas--Leave the funky cylindrical shaped apartment for breakfast in the open-air dining room on the nearby hotel grounds. Watch an iguana take up its position under the overhang. Look for the hummingbirds that visit the hibiscus bushes around the pool. Cross through the narrow band of shoreline trees that hide the hotel from the beach,... More

This is our favorite way to stay beachside --- we can show up and remain barefoot for the entire stay; we can walk to pick up some things for our own kitchen; we can decide to never prepare a meal because there is food always available; or we can prepare our own meals when we want; the ocean is right... My husband and I booked this hotel even after read some negatively reviews from this site. We arrived very late on a Friday night and it was too dark to get to our apartment. The owner was away from the property but called the hotel to tell me that she would be happy to pick us up and take us... More

Three nite stay in the main hotel in May. The accommodations, while modest, are a very good value for the money. Guests are situated right on the beach, and the facilities include a pleasant pool, three-meal restaurant and bar, and adjacent surf shop/rental/taco stand. Staff is generally helpful and pleasant. Occasionally, guests may feel they are being directed towards specific... More

Hotel Las Tortugas is amazing! My husband and two children (ages 8 and 11) stayed there and we had the best vacation we’ve ever had. If you want a great vacation away from the crowds and the tourist spots this is the place to go! This is an authentic Costa Rican experience. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating... First of all I would recommend asking yourself what you expect from your trip to CR. if you want to feel like you're still in North America then this is not the right hotel for you. If you Want to be RIGHT ON THE BEACH, directly in front of the main surf peak and staying at a hotel that feels... More

exactly what we were expecting and desired- prior trip advisor reviews were on the money and we just want to reaffirm what a laidback, beachside small, surf and nature oriented place this is-we had room # 3- actually a suite with 2 prettily tiled bathrooms and 2 bedrooms plus a patio we used mostly to dry the bathing suits we... We love this hotel because the staff treat you like family. There are 11 rooms in the hotel, 10 cabins, and 11 apartments. The restaurant and bar can't be beat. They overlook the ocean and nature is everywhere. Lots of hammocks in the shade and the pool is great! The staff changes the water every day in the hot tub.... More

This place was great. We stayed in Greek 4 and loved it. It was cheap, clean, and in a great location. When we arrived there was a group of howler monkeys sitting in the tree outside our window! We went to Playa Grande for a chance to see the sea turtles and Las Tortugas was situated just across the street... More
