All of the reviews I read prior to my visit spoke of the "Magic" in this place ....As soon as we arrived I knew exactly what they were talking about! We were in the largest of the Casitas, and it simply OOZED romance with a cool boho chic tropical vibe! The outdoor shower is one of the sexiest surrounded by tropical plants and bamboo trees! It rained the first night and was even more magical, IMHO! Sophie and her staff made us feel right at home and it is the ONLY place I would stay when returning to Guanacaste!
Thank you, Sophie and Nicolas, for a fantastic stay! Will definitely recommend and return! Tip: I was worried about mosquitoes since it's in the heart of the jungle, but we had no issues ...Keep the fans on and wear a good natural Insect repellent, and all will be well!

Flor y Bambu is a beautiful place, with a huge tropical garden area. We stayed at one of the tents which were very very clean and beautifully arranged. Every cabin/tent had a outdoor terrasse with golden lights and confortable seating. There is a clean kitchen which everyone can use plus there is a coffee station where you can get coffee at any time. Every night one of the housekeepers made a bonfire. The fireplace is surrounded by succulents and it’s a very beautiful and peacefull area to hang out. The pool was well taken care of and its located in the middle of all these tropical plants. Sophie, is a very kind and helpfull host and very easy to talk to. We will definititely come back!

Hands down the best place we stayed in Costa Rica! The owner Sophie is such a lovely person and you can see all the love she has put in the place and the beauty of her garden! The energy is so peaceful and soothing. The tent/room is pristine clean, great pillows, beautiful attention to detail in everything. The sleep quality is really good and the bed so comfortable. We had an outdoor private shower surrounded by plants, that was the “it” factor for me and became a ritual. We enjoyed the private deck with chairs where we sat down to listen to the sounds of the trees, the animals (monkeys, all kind of birds) and don’t even get me started on the simply magical fireplace gosh!!! Cheers to Adrien who hosts the stay, what a great guy! He made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible! We will definitely be back ❤️

I stayed at the lovely Flor Y Bambu in early January with my family. We glamped in a tent, which was spotless and clean. I especially loved the outdoor shower in the back - spectacular experience under the stars. We woke every morning to sounds of howler monkeys. The gardens are beautiful, and the pool and eating area are simply perfect. In the evening there's a small outdoor fire you can choose to enjoy. We found great swimming beaches close by, our favourite was Playa Ventanas. Also a number of good restaurants. I hope to return one day!

We just returned from 2 weeks in Costa Rica and Flor Y Bambu was 1 of 5 accommodations we stayed at. What a unique and wonderful oasis. My family and I all agreed it was our favourite. We had a super cute cabin that was open air except for the bedroom and has a great outdoor shower.

Beautiful gardens and a refreshing pool. Short bike ride to the beach or about 1/2 hour walk. Lots to look at along the way and a close by brewery should you need to stop for a refreshment.

Sophie the owners is such a kind and thoughtful person. She gave us great tips on where to eat dinner and both places where absolutely amazing. She even text us the evening it was raining to see if we wanted her to come pick us up as we didn’t rent a car. Great beach and not busy at all. Small taco
Stand by the edge of the beach for a quick bite before the walk back.

Highly recommend Flor Y Bambu!

Thank you Sophie ❤️

Absolutely breathtaking experience. My husband and I spent a week here "glamping". It was so peaceful and it was close to the beach and restaurants. It felt like we spent a week in the jungle with the sounds of nature. Every morning around 530am, we would wake up to the howler monkeys right above us in the trees. When the days got a little hot, we took a dip in the refreshing pool just down the path. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The beach is right up the road. Wonderful getaway for a couple or small family.

Overall this location was just a fantastic place to stay when you decide to visit Costa Rica. Ill break down my review into sections.

Arriving to Flor Y Bambu:

Getting to Flor y Bambu from San Jose was a fairly simple trip. I rented a car for the week to get there, and I suggest you do the same due to the location of the "hotel". The roads are all well maintained and marked, which makes for an easy drive through the country. The only problem was that the GPS didnt find Flor y Bambu as a location (could of been user error), but there is a Cafe right on the corner of the street that you can plug into the GPS that will lead you straight to the road that takes you back to Flor y Bambu.

The Grounds:
As soon as you get inside Flor y Bambu's bamboo fence, youll be happy with what you see. The grounds are amazingly well kept up by Sebastian and you can tell they take a lot of care into the presentation of the location. The small pool in the center is a great place to cool off during the day or night. The community "tiki hut" is also another great place to sit and relax, and the kitchen that is inside there has more than enough utilities and utensils for you to cook just about anything if you desired. There was also a really nice area for a bonfire that Sebastian would get going for us on days that were not too windy. The wifi was actually very reliable, which is surprising from my previous experience in Costa Rica. Not that its a huge deal breaker either way, but it was nice to be able to connect back to home at the end of the day. The only thing I could of asked for on the grounds was a hammock to be lazy in.

The Tent:
The tents have a nice patio in the front that allows you to sit around a table or sit in some amazingly comfortable but simple chairs made out of wood. Inside our tent we had 2 queen size beds that slept 2 people very comfortably, a refrigerator of decent size (maybe a little bigger than an average hotel one) a nice fan, more than enough electrical outlets, a toilet and sink in the back outside of the tent, and a shower that is open to the elements. We also had nice little areas to set our clothes, and items so we werent living out of our bags too badly. Each day the tents were cleaned for us while we were out doing activities which was a nice touch. Never once did we have a problem with insects or critters being inside the tent which was also a nice perk. We were there on days that were close to 90-100 degrees F, and while it was warm in the tents, it was still surprisingly "cool" inside of the tents all things considering. We would just leave the front and back doors of the tent open and allow the breeze to blow through.

The people:
This may have been the best part of the whole experience. Sophie, Nicolas, their kids, and everyone else that worked at Flor y Bambu were extremely welcoming and friendly. Never be afraid to ask them for suggestions of places to go eat, or activities to do because they will not disappoint. They always had a smile on their face, they were accommodating to our needs, and they even woke up early a few days to make us breakfast before we took off for activities (which I should note, their breakfast is very very good) Nicolas even took the time to draw us out some maps so we knew exactly where we should be going. Just know that they are extremely friendly and very willing to help make your stay amazing.

Surrounding area:
The surrounding area was what you would expect to find in Costa Rica. There were some small towns close by that had a few good restaurants in them, a local super market was only about a 15 minute drive away, with many more smaller stores located much closer. As I mentioned before, I would rent a car because the amount of beaches you can get to from there is pretty amazing. Playa Flamingo was probably one of our favorites. It was pretty isolated, but it was a very clean beach with big waves and easy places to park. Playa Tamarindo had a lot more going on in their town, a little more touristy, but also very clean. And they had great surfing there.

This was a bit of a long review, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that they are going to get a legit experience in Costa Rica if they stay at this location. I know I had a lot of questions going into it, so hopefully this helps answer some of yours

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay here, the bungalow was great, it had a massive bed and loads of space. The outside patio was great with a comfy sofa and nice bathroom area. The shower is outside in the garden which is great.

you are given a choice of breakfast, traditional or yoghurt with granola. Both are good and set you up nicely for the day ahead. Sophie our host was very helpful when we organised transfers to our next hotel and made us coffee and tea when we wanted.

I had read on other reviews doubts about security but we found the place to be very safe. There is a safe in the room and also a security man on duty all night.

We did t have a car which made things more difficult (going out to eat) but used the free bikes in the day to cycle to the beach. would highly recommend

We stayed at Flor Y Bambu for 3 nights. The place absolutely amazing! The hosts Sophie and Nicholas are so gracious, generous, and kind. The place is divine, and put together very thoughtfully with careful attention to detail that makes the stay so delightful. The tents are lovely and very comfortable.
Be sure take bug/mosquito spray as you will definitely need it in the evenings. The tents need to closed to keep mosquitoes out during the evening times.
The breafasts are so amazing -- we loved the shakes/juices. We are vegetarian/vegan family and they put together awesome and completely filling breakfasts each day! The pool is nice which my children used.
It is a truly unique experience and we loved it

Our stay here was perfection. It is glamping at its finest, and if you have't experienced a tent/yurt stay this is the place to do it. Comfortable beds, open air, beautiful breezes and a quiet private lounge area. Outside showers are GLORIOUS! Sophie and Nico are fabulous hosts, the place is beautiful, the pool and lounge area creates a perfect holiday vibe. The pool was a lovely place to chill with a beverage and the coffee and breakfasts were A++. They set us up with a wonderful surf instructor who took us to a locals only beach which was fantastic. Great place, great people...don't miss out.
