Modest hotel with superior customer service---Mike, the owner; Andres, the manager; Luis, reception; Garando, waiter and bartender; maids and other service people were excellent and more than accommodating. They helped with an impromptu birthday party, prepared excellent food, greeted us by name, made recommendations for...More
We had not planned to stay here as we had reservations at a B&B close by. However the B&B had gone out of business and we were missed when that information was dispersed before our arrival. Thankfully El Velero had a vacancy. We stayed 2...More

World travelers we aren't. Honestly, this was our first trip out of the country. We did indeed have the best week of our lives at El Velero. The beach front location sets a beautifully wonderful foundation for Mike and his team to give us marvelous...More
My family of four--two parents and two teenagers--stayed at El Velero for a week in mid-April. First, let me say that the weather was HOT! 98 to over 100 degrees F and sunny every day. And not a drop of rain during our stay. I...More

The food at El Velero is pretty good. Ginger is directly east of the hotel up on the main road. It is a Spanish Tapas restaurant, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food that is served. La Casita Del Marisco is a small seafood joint that is close to the Condovac, they serve all kinds of different fresh seafood dishes. Restaurant Mangaby is small little restaurant that is just up from the beach towards Ginger. It is a small quint hotel that has a bar and restaurant on the premises. The food is quite good, and the service is great.
