Our first room did not have hot water so we had to move rooms. When moving we forgot a few items in our previous room. We realized pretty quickly and notified the front desk, but they said the housekeeping team didn't see anything. We continued to ask throughout the remainder of our stay but it was clear that housekeeping had stolen our personal effects and were not going to return them. Besides that the food was less than average. There was a very limited buffet for breakfast and lunch, and three small restaurants for dinner that require an in-person reservation from 2-3pm. The rides, rooms, and facilities are quite outdated. And the is very limited seating and sun coverage at the pool. I would have thought a little more highly of the property if our things weren't stolen but that really tainted our perception early on.

The hotel has a gorgeous view and the rooms have basic accommodations. Rooms are very dated, which doesn't bother me, but could bother some. Shower was warm (saw some complaints about that). The housekeeping did a good job of refreshing our towels, beds, and cleaning up the floors. They always used my daughters' stuffed animals as props on the beds which was really cute. The beds are not very comfortable and neither are the pillows. The only way to communicate with the hotel is in person or through whatsapp and they are horrible at responding. Even when they did respond, it was only in emojis. We asked for another blanket and pillow and it took days to get it. There is a giant hill, but they do have shuttles that come around and drop you off throughout the resort. The shuttles have a maximum of 9 people per shuttle and are strict about it even if more could fit on the benches. The later in the day, the harder it is to get on a shuttle. They come less frequently and are usually more full. FOOD: there is a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food basically never changes. Plates are all mismatched and many broken. The only other options to eat are a "Chinese" restaurant and an "Italian" restaurant. You can only make dinner reservations at the restaurant, IN PERSON, from 2-3 pm and the "restaurant" space is limited so there are not a lot of reservations available. They do have a small pizza shack and a restaurant on the beach (I think it only does dinner, but maybe lunch) and it has mostly sea food on the menu. We opted not to do the all inlcusive as eating each meal there was less per person and the only way it would make sense was if you were drinking a lot. You will absolutely get sick of the same meal day after day. There are a few other restaurants on the beach you can walk to and/or get a ride off the resort for food. There were only a few members of the staff that spoke good enough English for us to communicate well. Most others spoke minimal English and everything is presented in Spanish. I get that this is a Spanish speaking country, but the language barrier was difficult. This resort had primarily locals staying at it (which I'm sure is why everything is Spanish). This meant the minimal entertainment was all in Spanish, so not worth attending for us. The beach area has rip currents, but the water is very warm. We still did a little swimming, but the water is dirty because of the dark sand. Just an FYI if you like clear waters.

Like many others here, I never leave reviews but wanted to warn others to stay away from Condovac due to our horrible experience.... - Property itself is beautiful and was probably once a nice resort when it opened 40 years ago. However, it has fallen into disrepair and is not well maintained or kept clean. Many areas now sit vacant and collect garbage. An old bar is partially demolished crowns the buffet entry. There is a kids area with a small Ferris wheel and bumper cars that sat unmanned most of the stay. Overall it is a depressing vibe. The property is on a very steep hillside. Although there is a shuttle that will take you in a loop around the property, I would not recommend anyone with disabilities to come here. - Customer service is terrible. Front desk is rude, dismissive and unhelpful. There are no phones, you have to message them with WhatsApp and we did not receive any response. - Rooms are a bit dated but were comfortable and clean. We were one of the few people from other guests we heard from that had hot water. We had a view of the neighboring building's roof and solar units. Mini bar is a refrigerator with 2 bottles of water, 2 beers and 2 iced teas. They only refill every other day. - All inclusive is a scam - it only includes the main buffet and pool bar. We paid an extra $100 for the week to use the "beach club" and pizza restaurant which we soon regretted. The beach club is a drink table table on a hill (no where near the beach). The entire area and all of the ingredients were covered in ants. Nothing was refrigerated. There was no one there and no decor, with no view of the beach. Pizza place was a few tables on the side of the road by the front gate. Would not allow us to take it to go and servers were very rude. Feral cats were abundant. We never went back to either. - Food is absolutely disgusting. There is a main buffet that put lunch out at noon, and continued to sit in the trays with flies buzzing around until closing. Same options of nachos and seafood that sits out all day the entire week. Salad and fruits are not refrigerated and also sit out in the heat all day. Raccoons and feral cats were also guests at the bar and would beg for food until you chase them away. Apparently there is also a skunk family that lives under the deck because it smelled of skunk in the entire area. - "Restaurants" if you can call it that are odd at best and dangerous at worst. These are banquet/meeting rooms they put a few tables in with no decor or music and harsh lighting. I've had more enjoyable meals at a hospital cafeteria. You have to make reservations, but can only do so from 2-3:00 pm and have to pre-select your meal. Both times there was hardly anyone there. Wait staff made us feel like we were bothering them. We tried the Italian restaurant first, and the food was actually decent. The next night we tried the Asian restaurant. Again, salad sitting out unrefrigerated with flies. I ordered the curry chicken which was ok. I am guessing it was the rice with shrimp that came with it that made me ill, but I got food poisoning and was sick the rest of the trip after that. This caused us to miss our rainforest tour be booked for the following day and they would not refund our $300 - The beach itself is beautiful. There are several cute restaurants and small resorts I would recommend venturing to instead. Coco beach, which is a 15 minute cab ride, also has great restaurants right on the beach. There were a few highlights. The pools and view are very pretty. The beach was beautiful. Tony, who booked our tour went out of his way to assist us. Hector in the main buffet was also great. Overall, a depressing place with staff that made you feel like an inconvenience and food that gave me food poisoning. Would give 0 stars if I could. Would NEVER come back here and urge people to listen to the reviews. My advice would be to look at the adjacent properties Villa Sol, Hotel Bosque Del Mar, or Riu down the beach.

A great location, but the rooms and facilities are run down. Our air-conditioner was so weak it barely kept the main bedroom under 80 degrees. The bathroom was >90. No phone system; only Whatsapp. Staff attitude is as weak as the facilities.

We stayed here 21 years ago and returned in March 2023. Nothing has changed except for another pool and the condo/Apartments/hotel being dirty. When we checked in we were advised that we had to pay 14.00 p/p each day for breakfast, however you can pay a flat fee and just use that money for lunch or dinner. It’s their version of a resort fee. Breakfast was 14.00 plus 10% service fee. (They only remove dishes, you need to get your own beverages). Lunch and dinner are about same amount 25.00 each. We stayed in a 2bedroom/2bath condo. One bedroom and bath are downstairs with the kitchen and a couch that was in poor condition. It was a trundle bed but lacked any cushion. The doors to the outside do not fit together well. So lots of large ants and other bugs. Be sure to keep your doors locked especially at night There are raccoons that like to try the doors to come in your condo. The condos have solar hot water. Heard people saying that they did not have hot water. We were lucky, we did but the shower head only had 1/2 of it working. Parking is not but in 2 lots. There is a shuttle that runs about every 5/10 minutes around the complex. We went to the pool. Everything in and about it was dirty. No one had swept the area. The tables around the pool and sparse lounge chairs were dirty, sticky. No one cleaned around the area. The restaurant that hosts breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Was pretty clean. Breakfast was made to eat omelets, cereal, toast and a couple other things. Lunch and dinners were pretty much the same. At dinner time once sun goes down the raccoons come to see what they can get. They are becoming more aggressive. They also get on the table to get to plates with food scraps left. The pools were ok. The hot tub was actually a cold tub. We were there 5 nights and left 2 days early as we were done with Condovac. We went to a different area and a nicer condo. We were disappointed that the Condovac was so run down and nothing had been done to it in 21 years.

Condovac La Costa Resort is an older establishment. The facilities were clean and staff friendly. We had a basic room which was clean, but the caulk in the shower could have used a fresh caulking. The shower head holder was so high that we just hung the shower head over the hot and cold handles. We did have hot water, but we had heard that some guest did not and had to be move to another unit. No telephone in the room. I had to download WhatsApp to communicate with Reception, Photographer and CR Unique Tour. They were responsive when I text them. The food was fresh, but just OK. We did see Howler Monkeys as the sun went down. The Spa at the bottom of the resort was awesome. They had package for 4 different services for $100 for 2 hours. The SPA itself wasn't fancy, but the services was exceptional. We booked our Adventure tour with Randald Picado who works for CR Unique. We had an awesome time on our tour. Transportation was clean and the driver, Jenner drove us to our destination without issues or scaring us. Emmanuel our tour guy was great. He explained everything and answered our questions thoroughly. One part of the tour took a little longer than expected which held up the rest of the tour. They personally bought snacks for everyone out of their own pockets to hold us over until we ate lunch. They also took pictures. Overall our stay was nice and we would go back to Costa Rica to see other parts of the country. When we got home to our own country, Randald Picado from CR Unique Tour sent us our tour pictures. The pictures was included in the tour package. We didn't have to pay extra for them.

This is a timeshare vacation place advertised as a hotel. Views from this place are unique and with four pools a good place to spend time to relax. The rooms - depending on what is assigned to you - are clean, some have kitchenette and dining room while others are just plain rooms. DO NOT expect what the website shows. Again, basic accommodations the "family room" assigned to us was big and very clean. Basics in the bathroom, shower only and a toilet with outside sink. No hot water. No telephones in rooms, you need to use WhatsApp and lucky if they answer your call. The main restaurant again has incredible views and the sunset is something to be seen. The restaurant staff are AMAZING, helpful and always on the lookout for what you need and very very helpful. The food is just OK. THE STAFF, this is what makes this place!!!!!. At the front desk two employees did standout in a BIG way - Pablo and Franchesa (?) - very empathetic and super helpful, the balance of the "front desk" staff not so much. After 5PM it is difficult to find somebody at the front desk and if you do....not very helpful and on the border of being rude. Fernanda and Lewis at the main restaurant's bar are amazing, any five star hotel would be happy to have Pablo, Franchesa, Lewis, and Fernanda in their staff, they are VERY customer service oriented and super helpful. The restaurant staff, every single one of them, go out of their way to please guests. There is a very very steep hill to go from from rooms to the main facilities, you need to be in good shape to go either down or up. There are shuttles that run often and will take you to the different areas. AGAIN, this is NOT a hotel, a lot of the people who stay here are timeshare vacationers, met a number of them from Canada and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays the place fills with locals who own timeshares. If anybody in your party has physical help needs DO NOT recommend this place.

Randall was very helpful setting up our tours and we loved all of the tours we got to go on. We went on the Nicaragua tour, Magic of the Rainforest tour, and the Unique Volcano tour. All of the tours had such interesting and memorable experiences. This definitely was my favorite trip we ever went on and it’s because we got to go on these memorable tours and do things we haven’t experienced before. All of the staff was always very helpful, attentive, and friendly. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay at. The views were incredible all around the resort. They have two infinity pools that overlook the ocean which is one of my favorite parts of the resort! Great for girls trip, couples trip, or family trip you won’t regret staying here.
