I have traveled to many four and five star all inclusive hotels in my life, and this one truly stood out for being the most terrible experience I have ever had. Let me try to break down why. Firstly, this is the only 4 star all inclusive hotel that will not provide any kind of drinks, not even water bottles, for guests in their rooms. It’s unbelievable. I arrived late at night, checked in, and then spent the entire night in thirst because this hotel ALSO closes their front desk at 10, so if ANYTHING at all happens that you need help with, there is NO ONE. I tried every single extension in the phone directory, which by the way, was barely functional, and nothing. No one. It was a ghost town. I legit suffered till the morning. Now lets talk about the room itself. Absolutely horrendous. Every light in the room was like 8000 lumens of bright white light. It was like being interrogated in a hospital. Everything was bright and uncomfortable. Beyond that, the toilet didn’t flush, and the shower curtain fell repeatedly and I couldn’t fix it no matter how much I tried. It was literally the cheapest setup I have ever seen, I cannot believe this place got 4 stars from any kind of professional organization. Also, this complex is so ridiculous gigantic, that you CANNOT get anywhere on foot. If you want to get anywhere you need to wait for this buggy service that arrives every now and never. And they won’t let you bring in your own car. It’s just wild. Now, as a final note of the terror that this experience was. When I tried to respectfully talk about the issues with the room with the front desk in the morning, they informed me they don’t provide water to guests and that it was in the fine print of the check-in, and it was, I swear to you all this is a 100% word for word quote from the front desk receptionist “that’s your problem then.” Now, I get maybe I missed the fine print on the water situation and didn’t have time to sort out my own water when I arrived at 10pm to my 4 star all inclusive resort, but even if I was wrong, I have never been treated more rudely. The guy could have at least been polite and maybe offered a bottle of water then, anything. Any gesture of caring about the experience of their guests. These people couldn’t give less of a f***. The only reason I am not giving it 1 star is because the manager of the restaurant was actually very understanding and polite and tried to help me out. Sent waters and beers to my room, and the food was actually pretty good. I had a fantastic fish with tartar sauce, and although I ate out at night, they had this mushroom herb chicken for dinner that looked absolutely epic. This place, outside of its restaurant, doesn’t care. If you’re looking for a real 4+ star all inclusive experience, go somewhere else.

We had a great experience at Villas Sol. You can’t beat it for the price. The concierge set us up with some great excursions, the bar and restaurant staff were wonderful and the views from our deck were unbeatable. Quick and easy transportation to the airport. Nice family atmosphere. We would definitely go back.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful. Several opportunities however for improvements: the all inclusive has a limited menu and the same food daily. There is only one restaurant. It was not worth the cost. The alcohol selection was also limited. We had to purchase our own. Bottled water was also not included in the package. There should be more activities to keep guests engaged. For example having activity staff daily at the pool area. Transportation shuttles should run more frequently. We often had to sit for long periods of time.

Our party had a wonderful time at Villas Sol. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were very nice, and the views were spectacular! The food was amazing, loved all the choices! We went on two excursions, the Blue River tour where we swam under waterfalls and soaked in mineral baths, and a sunset boat tour where we explored caves and watched the sunset from the water. Everything was wonderful!

Location is great, right off the beach. Staff, shuttle drivers, and RCI were incredibly nice and helpful. Tour Manager, Nemecio, was awesome and such a cool person. Costa Rica is beautiful and the culture is magnificent! Pura Vida.
