We had an excellent experience staying in condo #38, rented by Blue Zone Experiences. This was our first visit to the area and Blue Zone did a great job communicating and recommending tours. The condo itself was very clean and comfortable and had many amenities we used during our stay, including beach chairs, towels, an umbrella, a cooler, and a fully stocked kitchen. The Sunrise property itself was great too - we enjoyed the pool and overlooking the area from the balcony. This is also a great location to get into town. It's right across the street from the beach and there are many restaurants and shops in the area. There is also 24 hour security that made us feel safe and comfortable as we explored!
What is not to like about this place. Our stay for a week was terrific. The condos are conveniently located next to Iguana Surf and Tamarindo Beach. Perfect for families that need to go back and forth from the beach. We love it!
such a beautiful location! beautiful pool, beach access and rooms. the only thing keeping me from rating this five stars is that our internet didn’t work at all for the first day of our four day stay. eventually we figured out the backup rotor ourself but even then I wouldn’t call it “high speed”. regardless, lovely stay. loved the geckos hanging out on our porch. loved the waterfall in the pool. watch out for the elevator it’s scary.
We liked this place for the for its: 1) Great location that is close to everything you need for a week or two vacation. Beach, great restaurants and grocery store with good selection of the basics next door 2) Lovely resort style pool. It’s great for kids and large family groups who rent multiple units. 3) Friendly feral cats to keep you entertained in the evening if you’re on the ground floor. 4) We’ll equipped units, nice patios. We stayed in two different units on this visit, poolside in #37 and #38, both managed by Blue Water. Both units were fine, but clearly are in need of renovations. We’ve stayed in two other units in the past and these were about the same. Don’t expect luxury as Sunrise is a prime vacation rental spot. What was nice about Blue Water units is that they had beach chairs and coolers – both necessities in Tamarindo. Kitchens were well stocked dishes, etc. 5) Security. It’s gated with staff on site 24/7. We did not like this place because of: 1) The Noise The singer in the bar next door is terrible, and we had to listen to him every night. We’re not late night people, and we like the windows open in the evening. He does finish by 10 pm. It’s a busy place with families and traffic nearby. This is the reality of the great location. Every Thursday they do the gardening. The leaf blower is loud and runs all day long. It would be nice to be advised ahead of time so you can plan the afternoon in the beach. On last afternoon of our stay, maintenance had a terribly loud drilling near our unit for 3 hours. I get that this probably needed to happen, but advanced notice would have been nice so we could make alternate plans. 2) The whole place needs an update or renovation, including both units we stayed in. Its clean and gardens are well kept, but it’s time for an update. Pool chairs are well used and worn out, mould and mineral stains on patios, pool deck and waterfalls, etc. 3) We has mediocre service from Blue River property management. We asked for a cleaner for a specific day, and they said “we’ll see” with no follow up. The day before we emailed, no response. No cleaner showed up. After another email, a cleaner came unexpectedly two days later. Overall, the Sunrise was a great place for when we had kids for its pool and location. Now that we’re empty nesters we want something quieter and more up to date.…
We've stayed at the complex twice in during our travels to Costa Rica and I would stay here again and again. We've had only great experiences here and dealing with Blue Water Management Properties. The complex has an amazing pool, the location is fantastic and close to absolutely everything. The property team is super, everything and anything you need is readily available. The security team is always around and keeps the property safe. The units are well stocked with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and easy. We truly enjoyed our stay here.
The condo is nice - comfy and clean with an ocean view. I would recommend against a stay, however, as long as the condo continues to be managed by Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica. My trip was refunded in full by Blue Water (BW) and VRBO for the following reasons (all of which I have texts, voice messages, emails, photos, and extensive video to support): • Upon arrival, the air conditioning was not working. • I was offered a discount if I allowed 3 days of repairs or if I would agree to move. I preferred to just stay and use the fan at night. • I was repeatedly pressured to move. At one point BW even sent me the electronic door code to another condo. This triggered security concerns because during a previous stay at a BW property, a man broke in using the door code while I was in a towel just out of the shower. • On night 8 / 12 of my stay, 2 hrs after responding to yet another email from BW about moving, I returned home from dinner and found myself locked out. The door code still worked for the bolt lock, but the doorknob was locked. I did not have a key for the doorknob. • I contacted BW and they took 90 min to arrive with the key (at 10:00 at night). While I waited for BW reps to arrive, I exchanged texts w/ owner of BW, which culminated in an angry voice text stating that she was going to refund me the money and have me escorted off the property. • After being threatened with eviction, I asked a security guard at the condo to please help me to call the police • 4 police officers arrived at 10:30 PM and ultimately told me I had the right to stay in my condo until the end of my trip. The next day, I tried to file an official "denuncia" but was told I would have to drive 1 hr to another town to do so. I did not have a car so I let it go and tried to salvage the rest of my trip. • I posted about the experience on a local social media group page. Multiple people reached out to me about similar experiences w/ BW. • BW contacted the admin of the group, called me “crazy” and pressured the group to remove my post. • BW emailed me on 3 occasions, copied a lawyer, and said I would receive a full refund if I agreed to sign a letter from the lawyer agreeing to refrain from discussing the experience on social media or in reviews. • I responded that I would dispute the charges with Amex but BW refunded me in full anyway. • I spent countless hours on the phone with VRBO, sent all evidence to VRBO, and was refunded the VRBO fee as well.…
If you're looking to be within walking distance from all the restaurants, bars and shopping this is the place. It's directly across the street from the main beach of Tamarindo. Have stayed here twice previously and we liked it so much we are booked again for two months! The two bedroom / two bath units are very spacious and well equipped! We booked through Bluewater property management and they were awesome to deal with and always provided prompt service if we every needed anything. Highly recommend this property
We stayed in Condo #38 for a relaxing week this past February. The condo was very clean, with comfortable beds and all of the amenities required for a great vacation. The kitchen is nicely updated with all of the appliances needed for any great home cooking. And the balcony was PERFECT for coffee in the morning and sunset cocktails in the evening. The ocean view from both the bedroom and balcony made our vacation a paradise getaway! We enjoyed the quiet setting and the relaxing pool with waterfall. An extra thank you to Rebecca and Alan from Blue Water Properties for being so helpful in returning an item that I left behind. I strongly recommend this condo. We’re looking forward to returning!
This property is smack in the middle of town, just across the street from a public beach access and a 2-10 minute walk to every place in town. The condo we rented was well maintained and had steps from the back porch directly to the pool area, which was great. The pool area is nice though the lounge chairs are a bit worn and could use cushions to be more comfortable. There was some construction going on when we were there and we were woken up by a buzz saw at 8:30am one morning - not ideal when you're on vacation. Other than that it was surprisingly quiet for being right on the main street.
This is a nice property. Six of us stayed in a condo with three bedrooms,. Walked across the street to the beach daily. Restaurants nearby good variety. Friendly people. Great views for sunsets. Large pool with waterfall for diversion from beach. But loved the ocean. It was warm.
