I spent a few days with my girlfriend in Tamarindo. The attention and service was great, there are plenty of restaurants around to fill you up and you can't beat the location, just grab your surfboard and go.

We had a fun stay @ Zulu Surf it’s cool for 2-3 nights in Tamarindo you can walk to all the restaurants & bars & the beach is 5 mins away.The upstairs Surf lounge has an amazing collection of surfboards,we relaxed & watched surf movies. It’s a new revamped hotel we enjoyed our stay Thanks for the pura vida vibes Amigos!

This was a very nice spot. Not real fancy but, clean, adequate, reasonable and it fit the bill. Breakfast was good too. The staff including front desk and housekeeping were all courteous and helpful. Location was in the middle of things. Not on the beach but real close. Like a half a block. I will do it again.

The hotel is tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, very much the beach vibes that one would expect... considering the hotel's name ;-) Our room (Santa Theresa) was spacious, clean and comfortable. It would be nice if the shower was enclosed (not semi-open to the room) but my children and I made-do and it wasn't a big deal. A/C was fresh and it was nice to have a TV to cast Netflix to. The rooftop lounge has hammocks, etc and free coffee and cold /filtered water throughout the day. Breakfast included at Sol Bakery was excellent, as were the welcome drinks that I received from the bar located at El Mercadito directly behind the hotel. Good location, nearest beach access pathway approx ~100m away, flanked by shops, restaurants, etc in all directions. No swimming pool (otherwise I would give the 5th star!) but staying in a quality hotel and having quick access to the beach ~made up for it. Staff was excellent: very courteous and polite, if I had their names I'd thank them personally in this review! Two young fellows and one local girl who worked the front desk. The latter was very helpful, pleasant and accommodating to me and my two children so I'd like to tell her separately... Muchas gracias por todo, su amabilidad fue muy apreciada! If I could give them 0 stars I would have. They are a total scam and have the worst price quality value. We have been road tripping around Costa Rica for almost two weeks and had such lovely hotels. Zulu Surf was our last stop and I want to note that it was the most expensive hotel we had booked during those two weeks and also the absolute worst. To start of there is no park space whatsoever, which causes the first batch of stress. When we finally arrived in our room it looked nothing like the pictures at all. The room was extremely small and sparsely furnitured. This was only the beginning of the horror. Our room was right at the entrance so to create some privacy we wanted to close the blinds, which turned out to be completely see through. We tested it and could see everything from the outside when looking in, especially at night when the lights were on in the room. We also found a huge cockroach in the room and the bathroom sink was absolutely disgusting. The room was dusty and disgusting. Overal a total lack of hygiene. On top of this there was a huge gap inbetween the door and the floor. The noises from the entrance were always very loud and it was impossible to sleep in that room since the lights stayed always on and the blinds did not work. We went out to ask for a refund so that we could find another place to sleep for the two nights we would have left there, but they refused to do so. Instead they put us in another room for one night and then yet another room for the last night. The second room was a tiny bit better but the toilet was leaking, which caused the bathroom to be one big puddle. If we needed to use the toilet, we were touching the water with our feet. The last room was so noisy we could not sleep in it. It was upstairs and we heard the bar next door all night. In the early morning you could hear the cars honking and you could also clearly hear the people nextdoor getting ready. Also here there were windows without blinds which caused us to wake up very early cause of the light, after having had a terrible night already. For the price it is absolutely not worth it and one big scam. We weren’t able to get a refund or a compensation to find elsewhere to stay. I would NEVER come here again.…

We have stayed at some lovely hotels in Costa Rica, yet despite this being the most expensive, we were utterly disappointed. Multiple rooms not up to scratch / half finished. Requested a refund for our 2nd and 3rd night of our stay as was having a nightmare first night, but this was rejected, along with any compensation for significant inconvenience. Would strongly recommend you book elsewhere

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I had a booking which I made in May and yesterday they quadrupled the price on my booking and now I am left with nowhere to stay for new year. Total disgrace and no response from hotel when I’ve contacted them about this. I would never have booked had I known they would have done this. Awful behaviour and not something that has ever happened to me before.

This is a new hotel in a great location in Tamarindo. Because it is new there is some things that still needs fixing. As it is a surfing hotel, a board rack in the rooms would be nice. It is not possible to get trough the gates without a key. The reception is on the inside of the gate. No signs on the road, so hard to find. It says breakfast included. Its a cookie and some coffee. So you will need to get a real meal another place. Location was super central, rooms were really nice, good showers. Nice price for the stay.
