This company stole my $1000 deposit also. I hope this review helps others not select these thieves to do business with. I’ll be contesting the charge, and making another visit to Costa Rica to Make certain this hotel is shutdown. It will now be fun!

The staff was always kind but, I did have over $400 stolen from my locked room. I tried to talk to the manager but he said there was nothing they can do because no one will admit to stealing money. With that being said, stay away. On top of that, there are a lot of ants and the shower water pressure was absolutely terrible.

We booked this hotel though Booking.com whilst in Tamarindo and the next morning we went to visit the hotel two days before checkin day, to our horror we discovered a run down, dirty hotel in a very sad state, the jacuzzi was empty with a foot of dirt covering the bottom, the swimming pool was filthy as was the comunal areas with broken furniture and cigarette butts strewn all over the ground, we asked them four times to cancel our reservation, sent a waiver request to Booking.com wich went ignored, on the morning of checkin we found the owner there at reception, he was exceptionally rude to us and told us that all should be done through Booking.com, we called Booking.com several times and they told us that it was up to the hotel. To our horror my credit card was charged twice 100% and another 50% of the reservation cost, this was done 4 hours before the checkin time and under 2 different company names with the same retailer number, to cut it short we were robbed by the owner of this hotel, Booking.com don’t want to know or support us, the hotel owner denies what he has done and now we are having to take legal action against Hotel Mamiri and Booking.com, it’s a complete fraudulent mess. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

We were really disappointed this hotel is nothing like photos. Agree that it needs some serious money spent on it. Electrics failing/fridge leaking/bed under hanging space so couldn't hang clothes. Staff didn't care that our room had smelly water leaking from fridge - just gave us a towel to mop it up with. Wouldn't even try pool as worried about how clean it was. Do not stay here.

Unpleasant room was dirty noisy and could hardly wait to leave. Number 1 was located by street with construction, bathroom is so small a bigger person would be hard pressed to squeeze past toilet to shower. Front desk insisted I pay cash as their machine was not working which I didn’t entirely believe. Not very helpful. Only good thing was that breakfast was good and tasty.

It's my second time to stay in this hotel. Staff is super nice! My room was clean and no ants or bugs. New supermarket just 1 min away. French bakery/coffee/ restaurant 2 min up the road, bank across the street. About 6 minutes walking to the beach. Pool is a little outdated but it's ok for a small kid. Breakfast is good and will save you about $10 per person.

A great value place right off the main drag in Tamarindo! Communication with the owner was easy and quick (we rented the "big house" through AirBnB)! Check-in and -out was easy and quick. The house had a problem with the upstairs AC not working and a skylight by the bathroom downstairs leaking. I notified the owner of these issues our first night and both were taken care of very quickly - so that was greatly appreciated! The staff (the house is located "inside" a small boutique hotel) was very attentive - house cleaning was done daily and breakfast (with multiple selections) was great! There were some ants in the place, but they didn't bother us too much! Overall, a great value for the place and a great location.

Really unclean place, smelled terrible, the common areas were not taken care of, for example the pool was dirty and the paint of the bottom falling away. There was no electricity and in general it was an old place that seemed unrenewed. We wanted to cancel the stay because of these reasons. We were traveling with babies and this was unacceptable. The owner just did not give a sh..t and told us he was going to charge us anyway. We had to block our credit card. Be careful, i do not understand the standards of the people that write good reviews about this place.

I've stayed in hotels all over the world and this was my worst experience! My take is an investor bought this place and is squeezing every cent possible out of it. Now if you think I'm just a complainer let me state I stayed a week and a half prior at hotel Cristina in San Jose whilst receiving dental care nearby. Most conformable bed I've ever slept in, wonderful buffet breakfast, professional management and cost less per night.. After 7 days of hell at Mamiri I'm now in Jaco at the Villa creole and it is as impressive! Now for the details on Mamiri. The photos on line look great but the view from my room was broken down dune buggies surrounded by garbage, a broken toaster oven, a toaster and a discarded crock pot. They are trying though as they start mechanical work on the buggies at 7am in the morning so I hope you sleep soundly. I grew a beard while staying there not intentionally but because there was not enough light to shave and the outlets in the bath didn't work. The second day in the air conditioner broke and the refrigerator didn't function from the start but after complaining they did repair them. The statement "free WI-FI" should be changed to free from WI-FI as I was only able to maintain a connection for over a few minutes twice in 7 days. I complained about this but there solution was to alternately give me a pass word for the second connection then back to the first and neither worked. I talked to the owner and his reply was HUH? I said I give up and received no help after. There are 2 nice dents in the queen bed each a little different so you can choose the one that fits best. There is more but I'll stop here. Absolutely felt raped by this dump. I'm in Costa Rica for a few months traveling around so I will recover from my anger. If you saved and waited for your week vacation don't let these crooks ruin your vacation. Spend $20.00 more a night, stay somewhere else and have fun and create some good memories.
