as a returning client to Nahua, and so much of that just wasn't true, xcpt maybe the disco noise from down the street. The hotel had arranged for our shuttle from LIR and even though we were very early, a room was ready for us soon after breakfast at the excellent Bodega fronting the complex. We received a friendly greeting by staff, returning guests from other years and the howler monkeys in the large tree at the entry portal. There are more plants around the grounds, the big trees are spectacular and home to lots of life and the pool was clean and being windy, pink flowers would spiral down - that's a problem? If everything didn't have fresh paint, it looked like it, and sheets were clean as were the rooms as the staff worked hard every day. On this occasion we stayed in the lower triplex, in the middle. Noise bleed-through is non-existent through the concrete walls; it is true that thumping bass sound can be heard from a block away on some nights - would be nice if there was enforcement on how loud and late that place could pump out the music. Each year we return there is more building in Tamarindo which has its good and bad side. The good: for convenience there is now a grocery right next door and a bank with US dollar dispensing ATM's beside it. Both markets are very close and the Saturday one has expanded. The thursday night market is mostly crafts. Turning left leaving the complex and turning left again opposite the 'white skyrise' on the corner at the junction has you aiming very quickly to Langosta beach near the divide with Tamarindo beach. On your left you might miss the sign for the book store, right away tucked in a bit. This is the only place in Tamarindo to purchase stamps and since he visits the outer post office frequently, the owner said that letters abroad will take two weeks posted with him as opposed to two months left in a correo box. There is also a good and reasonable open air argentine restaurant on that side and opposite of it is the lane that takes you quickly to the beach and a restaurant (chiringuito) that gets live music. there was a lot more live music around tamarindo this year, with the growing population of visitors. most places on the beach now have wifi, happy hour beers at only 1000 colonnes and great sunset views. Close to Nahua at the junction, Sharky's will let Canadians keep up with NHL games on big screen, across the street from Nahua, Pasatiempo has laid back music. Bodega is the place for quality food and friendly staff and a discount breakfast menu for Nahua'ers. The nahua staff are wonderful, personable and helpful, including connections et al, that's why so many of us are returnees. Thanks, Gabriela, Alex and all for your support and just being you. Ross and Sand.

This little hotel is a real find. The family that runs it it so friendly and helpful. They have individual apartments with their own outside entrance and patio. Great air conditioning and exceptionally clean. I almost hesitate to review it as I want to keep it to myself. The restaurant next door serves the best breakfast and lunch. We ended up buying their meat and homemade breads as these units have a kitchen. The pool here is very clean and they invite masseuse to come to offer a great massage for about 10$ US. They last for 1 and a half hours. I highly recommend this hotel.

Pro: Friendly welcome and staff, air conditioning worked well. No garden, but walking paths were swept. Good location relative to center and beach. Cons · To be honest, I don't understand the high score at all. The room had a musty smell, the sheets, the fitted sheets and pillowcases of both beds contained various stains as well as stripes. The room was full of large ants, I think, without exaggeration, that we killed at least 50 ants on those 2 days, and then we had booked a deluxe room?? The garden was not maintained and the pool water was cloudy. Breakfast was served in the bar next door and was very sparse. Parking spaces too short for this hotel. Lots of noise from across the street. Swimming pool open 24 hours. Nice if youngsters dive into the pool and call out at 4.30 am. Bye Bye sleep!

We stayed for 5 nights in April, and plan on returning again later this year. Tamarindo can be very busy and noisy, and this hotel located just off one of the major streets is quiet, clean and the grounds are very well kept. We stayed in a 1 bdrm. The walls and floors are cement, and helped to keep the room cool during the day. We liked the simplistic decor, and were impressed at how clean the common areas were kept. The staff were always smiling, and friendly. If you needed anything, they were always easy to find and eager to make sure your stay was as enjoyable as possible. We especially loved Cheetah, one of the cats that lives in the hotel, and his friend the chicken who came out to say hello when we were heading out or returning back. The Bodega restaurant out front has one of the best breakfasts in Tamarindo. A true oasis, we look forward to returning again next winter.

We stayed at the Hotel Nahua in mid-February 2019. It is tucked behind the LaBodega restaurant. The restaurant is only open 7 a.m. to 3 pm. It has a counter with bar stool seating that faces the Main Street, making it a perfect spot to sit, relax and people-watch. There is a Vindi's supermarket which is a two-minute walk away (open 6 a.m. to 10 pm). Great place to grab a cappuccino, a huge assortment of fresh pastries and an incredible chicken Caesar salad wrap etc. As I mentioned, the hotel is on a very busy Main Street. However when you enter the grounds, you suddenly find yourself in a wonderful tropical setting, brimming with lush green foliage. Suddenly the sounds of the Town magically disappear. There is a family of 8 exotic birds (white throated magpie Jays) that live on the property. They are intelligent, and gregarious birds, often begging food from people. There is also a family of howler monkeys that visit often and are fun to watch, a huge iguana that saunders around , and a thin stray cat named Cheetah. The hotel has a long, but not wide, pool and is refreshing if you don't feel like making the 15-minute trek to the beach. The hotel is comprised of 13 individual suites of varying sizes and amenities. Some have kitchens, etc. We had a large room with two queen beds that had a bar fridge. I would describe the style as stark and contemporary as it had cement floors. The rooms lack charm and character. It would have been nice to at least have a coffee maker in the room. Front desk service provided by Laura was wonderful. Gabriella, the owner, is a warm and welcoming woman who took the time out of her busy day to tell us about the birds, trees, etc. I would most definitely return to this magnificent retreat.

Thanks a lot for your respones we are happy you were greeted by the animals that help keep our property alive and beautiful with nature, thats why we kept all the trees here! Quick question what beach did you walk to hehehe it usually takes me 5 mins to get there, and about the floors we got that smooth cement style because it helps get the rooms cool along with the venecian paste on the walls, it can get really hot in guanacaste, we would love to see you guys again anyways!

Notice that there aren't any reviews for the winter of 2017/2018. That's because the place had many issues and the bad reviews were deleted. Stayed in one room and the ac quit. The following day it was repaired. A number of days there might be water to shower. Was grateful when I could shower but not the standing water in the shower because of the slow drain. I was fed up, asked staff, a man, about the situation. He thought it was funny and suggested to bathe in the pool. Moved to another room. There was water there but it was freezing cold. Brought this to the staffs attention. She said, there's hot water in the laundry, you should have hot water, it's on the same line. She didn't bother to check my room. So, no shower after a 90F day & the ac quit during the night. Fortunately, I was able to find a room at another hotel the next day. I will not return.

There are a few things that could be improved. The bathroom door is louvered for ventalation which when you are sharing with a family of five is lacking in privacy and the beds are hard. However, the location is great, the staff are friendly and the pool/lounge area is wonderful. We have seen monkeys on the property, iguanas and cool birds. The room is kept clean and fresh towels every day. The a/c works well which is a good thing!

Hi there yes the doors have ventilation slides but they are pointed down on the outside, so unless your family is on the floor next to the door trying look up at you its not visible. We had a lot of clients complaining about the older style soft beds about making their back hurt, i guess everyone has their own liking.

I have been traveling throughout CR for close to 20 years. Ever since i first stayed at Hotel Nahua 10 years ago, i fell in love with the place. After many years and many visits eventually the place has been upgraded by the nice family that owns it. I only hoped that the place would stay the same, but it has slowly changed for the better and evolved into the best Hotel ever! Great location, inviting accommodations, nice relaxing pool, big kitchen, all amenities, and the most important of All..Great Service!!
