I’m so happy we chose Hotel Arco Iris!

Breakfast was included and they have three options- eggs, pancakes or fruit bowl. We tried and loved all 3 options!

The location is perfect because it’s slightly removed from the noisy traffic of town yet everywhere is close enough to walk to. Walking at night is safe as well!

The staff at the hotel were so sweet and friendly!

The pool is clean and the perfect temperature! Just know, if you’re looking for a cocktail during the day, no one is on staff to make a drink until the restaurant opens at night.

We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was cute and very clean. The AC and fan worked great! It needs a little decor updating in the bedroom but nothing crazy. The bathroom is nice and the shower is very spacious! We stayed in room #2 and the water pressure for the shower was pretty weak. As a warning, you cannot flush toilet paper, you have to throw it out in a garbage bin which does have a lid.

The hotel also has a restaurant at night which is a lovely hidden gem and the food is delicious!

Nothing to do with the hotel but…
1. Just know that Tamarindo is very touristy and people will try to sell you things on the beach (whistles, cigars, jewelry, coconut water, etc) nonstop! Also, you can’t leave anything on the beach so it’s a bit of a bummer if you want to go in the water at the same time as the person you’re with
2. Surf boards are available for rent right by the beach. We rented at this place across from Iguanas and it was only $10 per board, per day!
3. Chairs and umbrellas are available on the beach and can be purchased for $20 (2 chairs, 1 umbrella). We did this almost everyday and felt like it was worth it!
3. Food and drinks are just as expensive as a metropolitan city in the US.
3. Definitely have Colones for your trip to Costa Rica because no one ever gives you the right change back if you give them American dollars.

Overall: If you’re staying in Tamarindo, I highly recommend this hotel!

I visited Costa Rica with 10 members of our jiu jitsu team who all stayed at Arco Iris and the attention to detail was impeccable. Everything from check-in, to extending our stay was incredible. The food was out of this world and highly recommended—in fact, it’s low-key one of the best, if not the best, food in all of Tamarindo and more people should know that their restaurant exists to not just guests, but others looking for some great food. The owner Richard puts such attention to providing a great experience for his guests and the quality of the services. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Hotel Arco Iris was just as wonderful as the reviews said it was. The staff was friendly and helpful. The private bungalows were quiet and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. It was perfect for a group of 8 (4 couples) to each have their own space. It was also within comfortable walking distance to Tamarindo's downtown area. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The walls are a little thin. Try to get one of the bungalows that don't share walls.

We stayed here for 3-nights. Last year we stayed at hotel Pasatiempo and felt there is no comparison. We really enjoyed the quiet vibe at hotel Arco Iris and it’s beautiful surroundings. We walked to the Thursday night farmers market in less then 5 minutes and walked to the town and beach in less then 10. We had fun talking with Richard the owner daily. He took care of all our needs and helped us check in early. The dinner we had was one of the best meals of our 10-day trip to vista Rica. The bathroom was modern and beds comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel for its location, rooms, and restaurant!

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. The room and bathroom were both large and very clean. It's set back from the main part of town, so it's quiet, but it's an easy walk to the beach and main part of town. The front office staff was so helpful and friendly. The pool was clean and well maintained. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. Due to Covid restrictions, they couldn't serve breakfast on site, but they had a deal with a restaurant down the street that served complimentary breakfast to the hotel guests and it had the best French toast! As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe staying here and would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Arco Iris is an island of tranquility in the busy beach town of Tamarindo. The staff is top notch and the prices are very reasonable. We stayed with our family of 8 (two parents and six kids, ages 30, 28, 26, 21, 17 and 16) The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. The housekeeping staff was terrific. Our rooms were immaculate every day that we returned from the Beach. The wi-fi was good enough for us to cast Netflix on the large flat screen TV. The highlight of the stay was the chill vibe centered around the lobby/pool/ dining area. Surrounded by high walls and palm trees the area is super quiet and relaxing. The pool is large enough for a very nice dip (but not for lap swimming). The owner, Richard, is on site every day and makes sure each guest has a terrific time. Breakfast is included and it is awesome. Costa Rican breakfast, omelets, pancakes, avocado toast and excellent coffee. They also have a laundry service that is quite inexpensive. Overall, it was a terrific hotel and a great bargain

This hotel is a very short walk from the main strip in Tamarindo. We loved that it was walking distance to everything but removed from the noise and traffic of hotels on the beach. The room was clean and had everything we needed including AC. We loved the balcony for watching birds, iguanas and squirrels in the trees. We didn’t use the pool during our stay but it looked amazing and there are cabanas and chairs right by the bar and restaurant for getting drinks and food service. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a delicious breakfast each morning with traditional rice, beans, eggs and fruit that was some of the best I’ve ever had. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Response from Richard Resnick, Owner at Hotel Arco Iris
Responded 3 Oct 2020
My nmae is Richard and I am the owner of the hotel. The guest arrived 2 days before Costa Rica closed their border. Most guests cancelled so they were one the last guests at the hotel. We closed the hotel the day after they checked out. We have very high rating for cleanliness and the rooms are cleaned every day ,so I don't see how it could smell musky. This was a couple with a baby. I think they were very nervous. When they were here in March it was much different then things are today in October. We were just learning about Covid 19. There were no protocols reccommending to wear masks. everything happened very fast. One week earlier March 11, everything was normal here. Its ironic to have a guest say this because I am the most pro mask person I know. Our Health Dept her was not even talking about masks in March. Now masks are required in Costa Rica in all indoor spaces. You also see people walking on the street wearing masks. We have been closed since March 18. Hotels in Tamarindo are now starting to open up. We will be reopening October 19. We will be implementing all the recommended Covid 19 health precautions, including wearing masks, social distancing, cleaning the rooms, leaving rooms empty 24 hours after guests checkout and many other precautions. I am especially careful due to my age and my belief in following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. Why the guest wrote the review is puzzling to me. They wrote it 3 months after being here. As I said I think they were very anxious being there with a baby and I understand that. If they went to another hotel they saw the same thing at the next hotel in terms of no guests and no masks. Its not that we were against masks, as I said I am super pro wearing masks. In March masks were not on the radar in Costa Rica. I want all future guests to know you can trust that you will be safe staying at our hotel. The fact that I am 71 years old, makes me especially careful to protect not only your health but mine too. We look forward to having you stay with us.

This little hotel, off the main road in Tamarindo, is well-situated away from the bustle. The property design is very well-done, with a small restaurant on site as well as a small pool area. The rooms are very good and the beds comfortable. The owner Richard greeted us and made sure our stay was comfortable. A small parking area is available for guests. Great restaurants a stone's throw away. If you have a car (or just get a taxi), definitely go to Playa Flamingo!

We were a group of 5 who recently stayed at Hotel Arco Iris for two nights in 2 rooms.
The rooms were decent size, with AC a mini fridge, and comfortable beds. The pool is on the small size but it is nicely outfitted with sun chairs and comfy other chairs. The hotel offers a free breakfast with a choice of maybe 5 different options, the breakfast was VERY good and filling. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We had a fishing charter scheduled one morning before breakfast was to be served and the owner and staff went the extra mile to pack us a to-go box with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola. The reception desk can book activities for you. My friend and I had them book us a massage at a local place within about a 3 min walk from the hotel. The location is an easy walk to town, with many restaurants and shops all within a couple minutes. The hotel had a few parking spaces available as well.
